Namyang is the historic and cultural city of the country, a unique geographical environment that has created a unique basin civilization, with cultural convergence between east and west and north, making it one of the most preserved areas of the country's intangible cultural heritage. The southern intangible cultural heritage covers all aspects of china's intangible cultural heritage: folklore, folk music, folk dance, traditional theatre, music, acrobatics and games, folk art, traditional handicrafts, traditional medicine, and ten broad categories of folklore. The results of the census of intangible cultural heritage in henan province are compiled in the city of namyang, containing 1127 projects in language and writing, 6571 projects in folklore, 320 projects in folk art, 502 projects in folk music, 345 projects in folk dance, 490 projects in traditional theatres, 620 projects in arts, 744 projects in traditional sports, acrobatics and games, 661 projects in traditional handicrafts, 1910 projects in folk practices, 338 projects in civic beliefs, 764 projects in civics and 2177 projects in traditional medicine. In 2023, namyang city formed a comprehensive national and provincial, municipal and county four-level system for the protection of intangible cultural heritage and a system for the protection of representative bearers, with 13 representative national projects for intangible cultural heritage and 10 representative heirs; 55 representative provincial projects for intangible cultural heritage with 59 representatives; 219 representative municipal projects for intangible cultural heritage with 349 representative heirs; and 1152 representative projects for intangible cultural heritage at county level with 1389 representative heirs. The number of intangible cultural heritage projects at the national level is the highest in the province. As of 2023, the state council has published a list of five national-level non-material cultural heritage representative projects in namyang city (southyang city), zhuang county (namang city), grand-tempo (southyang city), trichot book (southyang city), pyeongyu sculptor (ping county), zhang zhigu's mythology (yubak county), saipung min goo (west canyon county), tweet (dang state city), pie-foot theatre (tang state city), roo pot (dang state city), painting (south yang painting city), and twenty-four festival gass of the agricultural calendar (hongyang city practice)。
