On 21 january, a ceremony for the donation of old chinese coins and stamps was held at the shanghai city museum of history (shanghai revolutionary museum of history). Mr. Wang liwei, a member of the shanghai city collection association, donated 42 original sets of 175 copies of commemorative stamps and special stamps from the people's republic of china from october 1949 to february 1955 to al-haqbo。

The issue of new china stamps was almost synchronized with the establishment of new china. On 8 october 1949, the then-north china post office was given the mandate to issue the first set of commemorative stamps for the new china " celebrating the first plenary meeting of the chinese people's political consultative conference " , opening a new page in the distribution history of chinese stamps。
The stamps issued between october 1949 and march 1955 were referred to by the philatelic community as “old currency stamps”. The wealth of old currency stamps, reflecting major achievements or important events in the political, economic, cultural, diplomatic and other areas of the early years of nation-building, is of special historical value as one of the important national business cards of the year。

The commemorative stamps and special stamps, which are named after the qi, were issued from 8 october 1949 to 10 march 1967 and have a special place in the history of the new china stamps。
First of all, they have witnessed a period in the history of the initial years of currency mixing in the establishment of the new china. In the early days of the establishment of the new china, our currency was replaced by a currency reform in march 1955, after which new currency stamps were issued. The present gift is an original copy of the old currency stamps prior to march 1955. These stamps are based on the old renminbi, and the figures range from small to large, reflecting from one side the historical facts of china's economy from recovery to stable development in its early years of existence。

Secondly, the stamps reflect certain features of the new chinese postal service. For example: qi 1, qi 2, qi 3, bearing in mind the chinese people's postal service. The ministry of post and telecommunications of the people's republic of china was created on 1 november 1949 and the first national postal conference was held in december of the same year. It was determined that the stamps since then have been kept in mind by the chinese people's postal service. Moreover, a feature of the design of the new china stamps, for example, is the adoption of logos unique to our postal service. In addition, of the stamps donated this time, the first set of exotic stamps in my country, the fourth set of 40 sets of radio gymnastics, was the first of our country's alien-typographically connected stamps。

Shanghai is important for the development of chinese stamps. Tailong stamps are the first chinese merchant's ticket to be issued by the shanghai ministry of industry. China's first set of stamps, the dragon stamps, were printed in shanghai. In the early days of the new china, most stamps were printed in shanghai. The donated stamps included stamps from the shanghai commercial printing office, the shanghai printing office of the daedong book office, the city printing office, the shanghai industry printing corporation, the shanghai eastern district tax administration and the shanghai people's printing office。

Shanghai is also the home of our mail collection, and since the twentieth century, philatelic organizations, such as the shinzhou postage research association, the sea post office association and the china postage association, have been established. Today, shanghai has a large collection of philatelic interests, which are prominent in the national post fair。

This donation by mr. Wang li wei demonstrates the dedication and social commitment of contemporary philatelic collectors in shanghai to public services. The donation was intended to make philatelic collection a duty not only to enrich people's lives, but also to transmit history and civilization. According to the director of the ministry of culture, in 2019, we held a donation ceremony to encourage more collectors to join the donor community. Together with collectors, we wish to work to preserve the historical memory of shanghai and china, to bring together historical wisdom, to help build shanghai's cultural brands and to advance the process of the development of international cultural cities in shanghai。
