
In recent days, the engineering thermal physics institute of the advanced compressed air energy system has made a major breakthrough in the development of compressed air storage technology at the institute of engineering thermal physics of the chinese academy of sciences (hereinafter referred to as the engineering thermal physics institute). The international first, single-power largest, compressed air storage compressor, developed by the chinese academy of sciences institute of engineering thermal physics, in conjunction with the central provident state energy (beijing) ltd., was tested by third parties with the qualifications of the china national accreditation commission (cnas). The test showed that the compressor had a maximum exhaust pressure of 10. 1 mpa and a maximum power of 101 mw, with a variation of 38. 7 to 118. 4 per cent and an efficiency of 88. 1 per cent under the maximum exhaust pressure. Compressors are one of the most important core components of compressed air storage systems. Their role is mainly to compress the air pressure to high pressure at the time of storage, and to store it in gas storage devices, leading to the conversion of electrical energy to air pressure and thermal energy. Through its own innovation, the engineering thermal institute has broken through key technical challenges such as overall design and optimization, full-dimensional mobility optimization, long rotor complex axis structure design, efficient transformation of condition control, and has developed the first international set of compressed air storage compressors with a power exceeding 100 mw, with full autonomous intellectual property rights. The single power of compressed air storage compressors has increased by more than 100 per cent and the unit cost has been significantly reduced, with the advantages of efficiency, stress and wide range. It is known that the engineering thermal institute has been conducting the first research on compressed air storage technologies in the country since 2005. After more than 20 years of effort, the original proposed new principles for advanced compressed air storage capacity, which went beyond key technologies such as the full system design, wide load compressor, high-efficiency compact heat exchanger, high-load inflator; the complete design system for compressed air storage covering "system design - key components - integrated control" was completed; and the first project was to develop a national demonstration of advanced compressed air capacity of 1. 5 mw-10 mw-100 mw. The successful development of the one-power maximum compressed air storage compressor is an important milestone in the world's compressed air storage technology, which will drive compressed air storage technology towards new steps.
