In march of this year, tesla released the third generation supercharge system (v3. 0), with a charge power of 250 kw, which, in practical applications, allows vehicles to charge up to 5 minutes of resupply beyond 120 km. The 150kw overcharge system is based on software upgrades based on v2. 0 overcharged hardware facilities, which have been fully upgraded from 120kw/60kw to 150kw by 25 per cent compared with the previous excess power of the system, without the need to upgrade the hardware facility and can be achieved through the software on the existing overcharged pillar. More recently, we have learned from the chinese official tesla that 150 kw supercharges will be sent to the chinese region at the end of this year。
Since there is no need to replace hardware, new 150kw overcharges are more redundantly open to charging stakes via software than before. It could be understood that all previous 120kw overcharged pillars were capable of 150kw-compatible per se, while this small upgrade for new vehicles such as model 3 (parameters), which somewhat alleviated the pre-release experience of the third generation overcharge system, was not clear in practice because of the failure to upgrade the entire backbone network and poles and to increase power distribution through software alone。
In the current system, one 150-kw backbone network is split between each of the two chargers, so the maximum charge power quota that can be allocated to each vehicle cannot reach the maximum 150kw value if the charging station vehicle is too dense. This situation is now more common at tesla overcharge stations in china, and other direct-flow charging networks can have similar epidemics, such as high-speed service areas in the country, where many national grid charging stakes can be diverted or restricted because of multiple vehicle charging。
Supercharge technology has been inextricably linked to enhanced user experience, and tesla has been seeking joint advances in overcharge technology and vehicle-mounted charge technology, so that the next third generation of 250kw overcharges will be able to fundamentally increase the efficiency of charging. However, as far as the achievements of tesla are concerned, the future official roll-out of the 250kw supercharge system will once again distance itself from competitors。
Model 3 has a better boost in terms of vehicle chargers than model s and model x in terms of its current brand product line, resulting in the previous 120kw overcharge system not meeting model 3 and subsequent product demands.
