The book was revised on the basis of releases 1 (2000) and 2 (2007) in accordance with the requirements of the curriculum “procedure control and automation system” of general higher schools. Proceeding from the actual needs and new developments in process control for the current automation of production processes, the book focuses on smart instrumentation, process system modelling, analysis and design of special processes and complex process control systems, network-based computer control systems and engineering applications, based on the presentation of basic concepts, working principles and use requirements for production process control systems and automated instrumentation, simple control system design programmes. The contents of this book are appropriate, in depth and breadth, adapted to the educational needs of the various university faculties of electrical information; they are concise, comprehensible, progressive and self-executed; each chapter begins with a brief description of the contents of this chapter and the basic requirements to be met; each chapter ends with the preparation of basic exercises, integrated exercises and design questions to accommodate the different learning needs of students, and also to facilitate teaching by teachers. The book can be used as a teaching material for the electrical information specialties of higher schools, as well as for teachers, students and technical engineers. The main features of the book are: (a) an update based on the retention of the main features of releases 1 and 2, the introduction of new examples of results and applications, and the preparation of appropriate, in-depth and wide-ranging materials, in strict conformity with the requirements of the undergraduate development objectives and syllabuses; (b) a modular structure based on the maintenance of system and integrity, to accommodate the teaching requirements of different institutions of higher learning; (c) an approach based on the practical needs of production, using sophisticated and sophisticated control strategies and automation instruments, to the extent possible, in order to harmonize technological sophistication with the practical nature of engineering; (d) a simple, comprehensible, simple, easy-to-for-to-forward, simple and complex narrative methodology, which is gradual and easy to learn; (e) a chapter that sets out the main elements of this chapter and the learning requirements that should be met in order to facilitate learning; and (f) a chapter that is prepared on the basis of basic exercises, integrated exercises and three levels of design, so as to adapt to the different learning needs of students and to the skills of teachers. The book consists of 10 chapters, 1 to 5 based sections, 6 to 9 enhanced sections and 10 applied sections. The reference teaching hours for this book are 56-64 hours (including 8-10 hours experiments)。
