Mobile phones are set up as mobile hotspots to connect computers to the internet via wi-fi, with the following operational steps。
I. Setting and opening hot spots on mobile phones
1. Open cellular settings: find and open the settings application on your mobile phone。
Access to “networks and connections” or similar options:
Android mobile phone: usually the path is to set > network and internet > hotspots andNetwork sharingOr mobile network sharing or personal hotspots (specific names may vary slightly from cell phone brand to system version)。
Iphone/ipad: path is to set > personal hotspots。
3. Configure hot spots:
Sets the hotspot name: the hotspot name, the network name or the "ssid " options are found. You can change to your preferred name (the default is usually a cell phone type name)。
Set security and password: very important
Select security type (recommendation select wpa2-persoNal or wpa3-personal, most secure)。
Sets a strong password (at least eight bits, including letters, numbers and symbols). Remember this password。
Note: this is the password that you need to enter when a computer connects。
Select frequency band (selected mobile phones): 2. 4 ghz is good for walling but relatively slow; 5 ghz is fast but less wallbreaking. If all computers and equipment are nearby, preference is given to 5ghz。
4. Open hot spots:
The switch next to the portable wlan hotspots, the mobile hotspots and the personal hotspots is found and opened。
Iphone user note: enables "to allow others to join" switches. The system may ask you how you want to share a connection (select only wireless local area network (lan) or usb) and choose " wireless local area network (lan) only " , which can be used for wi-fi connections。

Windows 10/11:
Click on the network icon (or)。
Ensure that the wi-fi function is open (slides are blue)。
In the list of available networks displayed, you can find the name of the hotspot that your mobile phone sets。
Macos:
Click the " wi-fi" icon (on the top right corner of the screen)。
Ensure that wi-fi is open (the menu item is shown as open wi-fi)。
Found the hotspot name for your cell phone in the list。
2. Connecting hot spots:
Click on the cell phone hotspot name in the list。
System will prompt you to enter a network security key or password。
Enter the password you set in your cell phone hotspot settings。
Check " autolink " or " remember this network " (optional, to facilitate next automatic connection)。
Click connect。
3. Waiting for the connection to succeed:
Computers will try to connect mobile phones to hot spots。
When the connection is successful, the network icon in the windows taskbar will show the connection (usually signal strength), and the wi-fi icon in macos will show the connection。

One, traffic consumption: computer access via cell phone hotspots will greatly consume the cellular traffic of your mobile phone. Keep an eye on your flow packages and avoid extra costs. Suggested for use in ad hoc emergencies or when sufficient flows are available. Operations such as viewing videos, downloading large files, updating systems and so on quickly consume traffic。
Power consumption: turning on the hotspot will significantly increase the power consumption of mobile phones, bearing in mind their capacity or connection to chargers。
3. Password security: a strong password must be set to prevent unauthorized wiping and consuming your traffic and electricity。
Signal intensity: the speed and stability of computer access depends on the intensity of cellular network signals received by mobile phones (4g/5g) and the physical distance between computers and mobile phones (wi-fi signal intensity). Try to put your cell phone near the computer。

Inspection:
The cell phone hotspot has been successfully opened (state bar with icons)。

Can't get online after connecting
Inspection:
The cellular data network of the cell phone itself is normal (by using a mobile browser to open a web-based test)。
Whether mobile phones are in sufficient traffic or are speed-restricted。
Try to restart the phone and the computer。
Checks if the computer has a valid ip address (usually automatically)。
V. Alternative approaches: usb network sharing (lined connectivity, more stable)
If computers and mobile phones are close and have usb data lines, usb sharing is a more stable and less power-consuming option:

2. Launch usb internet sharing on mobile phones:
Android: set up > network and internet > hotspot and network sharing > to open usb network sharing。
Iphone: set > personal hotspot > to open allows others to join. When you connect to usb, the system usually pops up a hint to ask if you trust the computer (check trust) and shows the usb connection enabled below the personal hotspot setting (sometimes the usb option needs to be manually opened)。
