“flammation and gas saving”, a message that led many people to purchase gas fusion rings, known as kitchen “gods”. It's a device placed above the gas stove burner。
The daily reporter for the technology newspaper found that on some of the electrician platforms, there was an explosion of gas concentration and circulation. So, does this kitchen "god" really save energy? Is it a security risk to use it? Journalists interviewed relevant experts in this regard。
It's a waste of energy
Gas concentration rings, also known as energy-saving masks, wind masks, are a fire-resistant wind device. The merchants claimed that it could bring the flames together and increase the efficiency of gas combustion。

“to achieve the above, systematic optimization of the gas flow of stoves, air supply, physical structure, etc. Is required. The use of gas fusion rings does not produce energy savings.” chen zheng, associate professor, school of physical sciences and engineering, beijing university of transport, spoke in an interview with a journalist。
There are two main ways to improve the efficiency of thermal use of gas stoves. The first is to allow the gas to burn as fully as possible, thus releasing more chemical energy. This requires an adequate proportional mix of gas and air. The second is to maximize the use of heat released during gas combustion. This depends on the structure of the stove, which needs to be “compatible” with the pot。
“flammation is limited to a certain extent by gas fusion rings, where the original air flow structure of the stove is damaged and air flow is blocked. At this point, stoves are still venting according to the original gas flow. The gas will then be too low for sufficient combustion to release chemical energy.” according to chen, “the use of gas fusion rings therefore results in substantial energy waste”
Or cause carbon monoxide poisoning

The use of gas fusion rings is not only a waste of gas but, if not properly operated, it also causes carbon monoxide poisoning due to inadequate gas combustion。
“the use of the gas concentration ring would block oxygen into the gas channel, resulting in inadequate gas combustion and the generation of large quantities of carbon monoxide.” chen added that “carbon monoxide is colourless and, if leaks are not easily detected”
In an experimental video, scientists demonstrated the safety risks associated with the presence of gas concentrations. When the stoves were working for some time with the gas concentration ring, the detector sent a sharp alarm, at which point the concentration of carbon monoxide in the room was harmful to the human body。
In recent years, carbon monoxide poisoning or death of humans has occurred in many parts of the country as a result of the use of gas concentration rings。

In july 2023, there was an incident in north-west wang town, haidang district, beijing city, in which two people died from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by the use of gas fusion rings; in 2022, there were several incidents in the towns of yong loe east district, ishikiyama mountain, beijing city, and yan bao kyeongwon home, in which residents were poisoning carbon monoxide by loading their own gas fusion rings; and in 2021, in 2021, a household in tangshan street, the new street of sun, dalian city, in connection with the use of oxidation
Several local market regulators and emergency authorities have issued safety alerts or explicitly banned the use of gas concentration rings. For example, the beijing municipal market supervisory authority issued in 2022 a safety alert for products with firecrackers, which explicitly advises consumers that “no device or attachments, other than those that may affect the performance of the plant, should be installed on the flames”. The use of gas fusion rings has been explicitly banned in places such as shaanxi elin, xinjiang urumqi and heilong river jamus。
“the vast majority of consumers need to select qualified gas products produced by formal manufacturers to develop good patterns of gas use in everyday life.” the responsible officials of the beijing fire service described, for example, the use of gas in well-ventilated facilities and the non-placement of flammable items in the vicinity of gas facilities; regular inspections of gas leaks at gas facilities, which should not exceed eight years of use of gas stoves; and the non-self-repair of gas facilities, which should be repaired and replaced by contact with professionals.
