The beijing medical insurance authority issued a circular on issues relating to the adjustment of the maternity insurance policy for its employees, which, with effect from 1 may 2020, adjusted the criteria for the payment of medical expenses for maternity insurance to further safeguard the basic medical needs of participants in maternity. This is a major adjustment in the treatment of maternity costs, including prenatal check-ups, hospital deliveries and family planning procedures. The maternity insurance system was established in beijing in 2005, and all enterprises and institutions are now covered by maternity insurance。
The payment rate for prenatal check-ups was raised from $1,400 to $3,000 per person。
Payment criteria for prenatal check-ups:
The cost of prenatal check-ups from pregnancy determination to termination is paid at a maximum of $3,000. The lower limit is paid on the basis of actual expenses incurred, above the limit, and on the basis of the limit。
The rate of payment for hospital deliveries was raised from $3,000 to $5,000 and for cervix sections from $4,400 to $5,800。
Quotas for hospital deliveries:
Medical expenses for natural childbirth: $5,000 for level iii hospitals, $4,800 for level ii hospitals and $475 for level i hospitals (a further test of the vagina following an cervix and an inverteophagus for delivery, with a flat rate increase of $1,000 for each level of hospital based on the “natural childbirth” quota)。
2. Medical expenses for artificial intervention in childbirth: $5,200 for level iii hospitals, $5,000 for level ii hospitals and $4950 for level i hospitals。
3. Medical expenses for cervix: 5,800 for level iii hospitals, 5,600 for level ii hospitals and 5550 for level i hospitals。
Twenty-five adjustments have been made to the standard of medical payments for family planning operations, such as for outpatient abortion operations, which has been raised from 270 to 770 yuan。
Outpatient family planning, regardless of hospital level, is subject to the following limits:
1. Medical expenses for outpatient abortion operations of $777。
Medical expenses for high-risk abortion surgery at outpatient clinics of $859。
3. Medical expenses for outpatient abortions of 560 yuan。
4. Medical expenses for outpatient pyrotechnic glues amount to $2127。
5. Medical expenses for outpatient vasectomy, 1988。
6. Medical expenses for ambulatory vasectomy drugs, $2093。
7. Medical fees for intra-immortal sterilizations of $900。
8. Medical fees of $832 for the extraction of intramural birth control devices。
9. Medical expenses of $1186 for the extraction of intrauterine devices and the placement of intrauterine devices。
10. Medical fees for outpatient abortion are $982 for the removal of intrauterine devices。
11. The cost of the outpatient abortion operation is $1171 for the medical treatment of intrauterine devices。

19. Medical expenses for hospitalization for high-risk abortions and tubal ligation: level iii hospital, $2628; level ii hospital, $2428; level i hospital, $2378。
Medical expenses for inpatient tubal ligation: $2357 for level iii hospitals, $2157 for level ii hospitals and $2107 for level i hospitals。
In-patient abortion operations are accompanied by medical expenses for intrauterine devices: 1954 for level iii hospitals, 1834 for level ii hospitals and 1804 for level i hospitals。
In-patient abortions are performed at the same time as intrauterine devices: $2021 in level iii hospitals, $1901 in level ii hospitals and $1871 in level i hospitals。
23. In-patient abortion operations are accompanied by medical fees for the removal of intrauterine devices and the placement of intrauterine devices: a level iii hospital of $2103, a level ii hospital of 1983 and a level i hospital of 1953。
24. Medical fees for the operation of in-patient high-risk abortions are taken from the intrauterine device at the same time as the intrauterine device: $2293 for level iii hospitals, $2173 for level ii hospitals and $2143 for level i hospitals。
25. Mid-term medical costs of induced abortion that meet family planning requirements for the termination of pregnancy for maternal and child reasons: $3593 for level iii hospitals, $3393 for level ii hospitals and $3343 for level i hospitals。
