In order to strengthen the national press and publishing industryManagementIt was decided to establish the press and publications agency of the people's republic of china as an immediate organ of the state council。
The press and publications agency is responsible for managing the national press and publishing industry. Its main functions are:
I. Drafting of laws, decrees and regulations on the press, publication and publication, and their implementation by the organization after their finalization。
Ii. Development of guidelines, policies on public information, publications management and censorship。
Iii. Preparation and organization of plans for the development of the press and publishing industry, approval of applications for new book publishing houses, the creation of newspapers and periodicals。
Iv. The market for books, newspapers and periodicals is managed in cooperation with the authorities concerned and illegal publishing activities are prohibited。
Administration of the printing and material supply of books and newspapers and of the distribution of books。
Vi. External communication, trade and cooperation in the management of public information, publications。
Following the establishment of the press and publications agency, the national publishing agency was abolished and the national copyright authority retained its reservation。
The people's governments of the provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government must seriously strengthen the management of the press and publications; their institutional set-up and staffing are determined by each region。
