Fujian regulates the price of aesthetic plastic surgery

Recently, the provincial health insurance board issued a circular on the regulation of prices for the integration of physico-physics services, implementing the national health insurance board guidelines for the establishment of prices for physico-physics services (pilot) project. The aim is to harmonize price projects, regulate pricing practices in health-care institutions and help to create a regulatory, transparent and orderly market environment for cosmetics. The new regulations will be implemented on 15 january 2026。
In comparison to basic health services, which are regulated by market prices, health institutions are free to set price items and set price levels, resulting in greater variation and weaker comparability of prices. As a result of the re-regulation of the current project on the price of aesthetic services, a total of 101 such projects have been set up, and prices have been set at the discretion of medical institutions in accordance with the principles of fairness, integrity, credibility and equal value。
The provincial health and insurance authorities have made presentations on the adoption of price regulations to guide the regulation of cosmetic services, promote innovative research and development and market transformation of the materials used in the relevant pharmaceutical products, create a more dynamic and regulated market environment for the healthy development of the cosmetics sector, and bring about an incremental development of health institutions and related enterprises. At the same time, the leading role of public health institutions is expected to guide non-public health institutions in regulating service and fee-paying behaviour。
The circular states that this normative integration takes full account of the high demand for individualized cosmetics and that a number of common projects have been broken down into clinical needs and expert opinions. For example, the cosmopolitan projects are broken down into such items as cosmetics price items as red lips, lip beads, mid-humans and mouths; the identification of wrinkles, inter-breeding costs, eyelash transplants, discotheques, earscreen prosthesis fees, nose osteolytics, neck prosthesis fees, abrasive deodorant removal fees, breast-milk fees, etc., to accommodate the different preferences of the general public with regard to beauty。
The provincial health insurance authorities indicated that the most visible change for consumers was a clearer “medical bill” and that the fees indicated by receipts, invoices, etc. Were more “obvious”. (reporter lee zheng)
