The current international trend in waste management is “integrated waste management”, involving the entire population in the three rs to reduce waste generation. The action slogans of the three rs are: (1) waste reduction (reduce); (2) use of the best (reuse); and (3) recycling. When consumers across society do so, the total amount of household waste and the burden of municipal waste disposal will be reduced significantly and the useful life of landfills will be extended. This has saved land and reduced the threat of pollution from garbage.
