As a clinician, i often experience schizophrenia with chlorazine. Chlorazine is indeed a good drug, especially for incurable patients who use multiple other drugs that do not have the desired effect, and it often leads to diversion。
But chlorazine is also a double-edged sword. It has more adverse effects, some even very dangerous. In long-term maintenance treatment, it is not the drug that is not working well, but the “suspense signal” sent by the patient and his family that cannot be detected by the body until the problem is severe and often handled very passively。
Today, based on my clinical experience, i will talk to you about the use of chlorazine, if there are four signals in the body that it might need to be adjusted。
Signal one: a sore voice, a fever, a weak body
It hurts
This is the most urgent signal that requires vigilance。
A lot of patients think it's a common cold, and they just want to get past it. However, in the early stages of the treatment of chlorazine (in the first three months) and in the long-term treatment, the combination of throat pain and fever must be highly alert to a fatal adverse reaction - a shortage of particle cells。
Chlorazine inhibits the blood production function of the bone marrow, leading to a sharp decline in white cells, especially in neutral particles. White cells are the “guards” of the body, and once they are reduced, bacteria take advantage of their vantage point. The first manifestation is severe swollen throats, high fever and tonsils。
My proposal:
If larynx corrosive fever occurs during medication, do not observe it at home and do not treat it as a common cold. Please go to the hospital and check the blood protocol. Signal two: heart beats fast when heart panics and quiets, or faints when you stand up
Panic
The effects of chlorazine on the cardiovascular system are widespread, but many do not。
One is a heart attack. Some patients sit quietly and have a heart rate of 100 or more times, and feel panic and chest rushing. The long-term high-load operation of the heart can lead to myocardial fatigue, even causing heartitis or heart failure。
The other is the low blood pressure. In the presence of lying or sitting up suddenly, the eyes were dark, spinning, soft legs and even fainting. This is very dangerous and can lead to injuries and fractures, especially among elderly patients。
My proposal:
If the heart rate persists, do not just think of “torture”. Doctors can reduce the heart rate, protect the heart, or adjust the dose and speed of use of chlorazine by adding a small dose of beta receptor retardants (e. G. Pryrol, pasilore, etc.). If you stand up often and feel dizzy, you must get up, like a toilet, slow down, hold the wall in your hand and tell the doctor to adjust the medication programme。
Signal three: the shit is bloody, or the constipation is so bad as to be dependent on drugs
Decency
When it comes to constipation, many psychiatric patients and family members feel that “the problem is old, eating bananas and drinking honey water”。
But constipation caused by chlorazine is not the usual constipation. Chlorazine is highly resistant to choline and severely inhibits intestinal creeping. Clinical cases of emergency surgery due to intestinal infarction due to chlorazine use are not uncommon. The early signal of intestinal infarction is three to five days without defecation, accompanied by abdominal swelling and abdominal abdominal pain, vomiting in the event of severeness, and blood in the urine may indicate damage to the intestinal mucous membranes or acne rupture。
My proposal:
Attention must be paid to the use of chlorazine over three days without defecation, or to the fact that the defecation is so demanding that it can be dealt with with in the form of stale and laxatives. Don't use irritating laxatives (e. G. Tatters, yellow) on your own. Long-term use can damage the nerves. Medical adjustment programmes, the use of relatively safe permeable laxatives such as lactose and polyethanol, and the assurance of a free daily defecation through drugs are essential to prevent intestine infarction。
Signal iv: increased saliva, especially wet pillows at night, or vague talk during the day
Salud
Saluding water is the most common side effect of chlorazine, but intervention is required if levels increase。
The mild saliva may simply be uncomfortable, but it is not only an awkward problem to develop into nighttime saliva and wet a large portion of the pillow, or when the saliva comes out unwittingly during the day, leading to confusion and even coughing。
Excessive saliva increases the risk of inhalation pneumonia. The mouth of cough or food residues enter the lungs and are vulnerable to infection. Moreover, the skin around the jaws and lips can be red and rotting as a result of prolonged dampness。
My proposal:
If the flow of water seriously affects life, it should not be tolerated in silence. Doctors can either adjust the time of taking a drug (e. G., changing to pre-sleep medication), add a small amount of saliva-reducing medicine (e. G., good rock base, atropine, etc., but only under the direction of a doctor), or instruct you to use some partial treatment methods. At the same time, appropriate pillows can be provided to prevent coughing by taking sides while sleeping。

Chlorazine is an “acethe” for schizophrenia, but the initiative for safe medicine is in the hands of patients and their families. The above four signals — a fever, a panic, a severe constipation, a surge in mouth water — are all reminders of possible changes in the concentration or tolerance of the drug in the body。
For many years in psychiatry, i know that it is not easy for every patient who insists on taking medication.
