What is artificial rain
Before we know about artificial rainfall, we need to know first — where it comes from
Rain drops from clouds, water from land and sea surfaces evaporate into water vapour, and when water vapour rises to a certain height, it becomes cold into small droplets, which form clouds, which collide with each other into large droplets, which fall from the clouds when they are too big to hold up. Thus, three conditions must be met for rainfall to occur: abundant water in the clouds, upflow movements and a sufficient number of condensed nodules or ice cores。
Artificial rainfall is used to influence the microphysical processes of clouds by means of artificial intervention in appropriate weather conditions, thereby increasing precipitation on the ground. Artificial rainfall can be achieved by spreading catalysts (salt powder, dry ice, silver iodization, etc.) to the cloud, or by using acoustic waves, flying-second lasers, electric particles, etc., to facilitate cloud conversion processes, such as water vapour condensation, cloud drops and growth, resulting in precipitation to the ground。
So, artificial rainfall is not equivalent to artificial rainfall, and the role of the catalyst is like “halogenated tofu”. Artificial rainfall can only work if natural clouds meet the operational requirements for rain increase。
Isn't there more artificial rain
The high clouds contain cold clouds (with temperatures below 0°c) and warm clouds (with temperatures above 0°c)。
For artificial rainfall of cold clouds, the traditional method is to sow ice or refrigerants such as silver iodide, dry ice and to increase the concentration of ice crystals in the clouds to compensate for the lack of ice cores in the clouds for the purpose of rainfall or increasing rainfall。
Artificial rain on a warm cloud is usually the application of humid agents, such as salt powder, to the cloud, which rapidly forms a large cloud droplet, which can rapidly grow into a rain drop by touching and in the process, thereby increasing rainfall by natural warming clouds that are scarce。
But there's no increase in artificial rain
First, there are clouds that have rain, but not all have precipitation potential. A cloud with artificial rainfall requires three conditions, with a cloud thickness greater than 2 km; a cloud with abundant water; and an elevated air flow zone. In general, the cloud of the clear sky and the cloud of the layer do not easily produce precipitation, while the cloud of rain (the mixed cloud of ice water co-exist) is more conducive to the growth of the cloud droplets。
As a result, the previous period was characterized by a constant high temperature, with many days like chongqing, “no clouds, no clouds”, and naturally not meeting the conditions for artificial rainfall。
How does artificial rain increase
The usual method of operation is to sow catalysts into the clouds through aircraft, artillery, rockets, ground combustion furnaces, etc. In general, ground-based incinerators are used mainly in inaccessible mountainous areas or in areas where it is more difficult to apply for operational space, where operators send artificial ice cores into the cloud by burning sparks containing catalysts。
Aircraft operations may be carried out at suitable cloud locations in accordance with different cloud conditions and needs, such as carrying catalysts and their sowing devices or mounted aircraft firing systems. In addition, aircraft can be equipped with detection instruments for observation of cloud structures and for tracking changes in cloud macros and microstates before and after catalyticization。
The low mobility of artillery and rockets relative to aircraft is suitable for catalytic operations in fixed target areas (e. G., water for reservoirs), especially in the face of current clouds that pose a threat to aircraft flight safety。
At the same time, manual weather-impact activities in the country must be carried out in strict compliance with the relevant laws, regulations and norms and strict standards for manual weather-impact operations. Prior to the operation, such as artificial rain-added aircraft, rockets and artillery, it is necessary to apply for operational airspace and to launch artificial rain-added rockets and artillery shells strictly within the authorized airspace to ensure operational safety。
