Waterproofing of the basements is a common practice. This is done through the laying of two layers of scrolls at the base of the basement to enhance waterproofness. The construction process consists of preparatory work, the laying of lower rolls, the laying of upper rolls and the processing of fine nodes. Inevitably, 100 mm thick concrete mats create cracks with structural loads. If the waterproof layer is closely bound to the mat, it is vulnerable to “fissile reflection”. Based on these considerations, the 2008 edition of the technical guidelines for water protection in underground engineering (gb50108-2008, 4. 3. 16) clearly states that, in the use of soft waterproofing rolls on the base plate, priority should be given to “empty or sticky”。

In carrying out the waterproofing work on the floor, certain operating procedures should be followed. First, the floor surface needs to be cleaned to ensure that it is clean and flat. Next, appropriate waterproofing materials are selected for construction according to design requirements. In the course of the construction work, care is taken to ensure the integrity and sealability of the waterproof layer by taking into account the details of the sequence of the material, the mode of connection and the binding strength. For round corners, flat-bed interfaces and turn points, additional layers of rolls should be specially designed to enhance the waterproofness of these areas. At the same time, in order to ensure a close integration between the floor rolls and the permanent protection wall of the bricks, the construction should be carried out in an oily manner。

Following the completion of the waterproofing work on the floor, there will be a need to process the side wall. This step is also essential as it directly affects the effectiveness of the entire water protection system. Ensure that the rolls are closely linked and secure by regulating construction and proper glue. In the temporary protection of the wall, the scrolls can be temporarily fixed in a sticky manner to ensure stability during the construction process。
Post-watering method
In the latter zone, we need to lay additional volumes of the same material as the main structure in order to form an enhanced layer. The width of the enhanced layer should be at least 500 mm in order to ensure the stability of the rear band。
Elevator well 02 and waterproof water collection pits
In order to ensure the waterproofness of elevator wells and catchment pits, we also use an increase in the amount of sheeting material, which is consistent with the main structure. At the turning point of the yin angglomerations, we put in place an additional enhancement layer at least 500 millimetres in width, thereby effectively increasing the waterproofness of these critical positions。
Waterproofing of the outer wall and through the wall

We set the opening of the outer wall to 500 mm above the outer floor to ensure that the closing of the soft waterproof layer is properly handled。

The pre-positioning tube in the wall should have a slightly larger inner diameter than that through which the wall is pierced, ensuring an appropriate gap between the two. Good sealing can be achieved by filling waterproof materials, such as waterproof sand or waterproof coatings. In addition, additional water defences will be added to the gap between the walls and the ducts to further improve water resistance。
04 basement monolithic waterproof

Waterproofing of the floor is essential during the construction of the basement monolithic waterproofing. A dedicated additional layer should be added to the flat-bed interface, with materials that are consistent with large rolls or have good solubility. An additional layer of scrolls should be fully glued to the ground floor, while in the interim protection of the wall, the scrolls could be temporarily fixed using sticky bits to ensure stability during the construction process。

At the entry point of the volume, we use bricks for temporary fixation. These interim measures of protection will be removed after construction of the wall is completed. The width of the sheet shall be at least 150 mm in order to ensure a smooth interface with the sheet. At the same time, we recommend flexible protection measures for the opposing wall rolls to ensure their waterproofness and useful life. The latter zone needs to be covered with the same materials as the main structure in order to enhance water resistance。

The same applies to the waterproof construction process of the basement monolithic rolls, which is carried out using additional sheeting and additions to the shaded corners to maintain waterproofness and to select suitable materials to ensure the quality of construction。
