The fast-growing chinese catering industry has faced many pains. Bae liang, president of the chinese association of chains, said that there were five major pains in the catering industry:Human resources, continued expansionCostI don't knowSupply chainI don't knowScience and technology applicationsOf these, human resources are the most prominent problem, and 90 per cent of enterprises consider it to be the most important。

In addition to the development of chains, the catering industry is experimenting with new business practices and products. However, there are some uncertainties in the expansion of new business practices, and many challenges remain in terms of profitability and replicability; the catering industry is faced with a wide range of “three-thirty-thirty” problems, with costs being the greatest concern of the catering industry and an important factor currently affecting the sustainable development of the catering industry; and the supply chain and the application of science and technology have evolved to this day into new topics of growing interest for catering chains。

According to the presentation, the five major pain spots can be divided into two categories. One type of problem could be described as an ecosystem. That is, it cannot be easily overcome by the enterprise's own efforts, such as human resources, cost issues, etc.; the first are positive points, such as continued expansion, supply chains and technology applications. The so-called pain of ecosystems is a game between upstream and related industries in the catering industry, such as competition for talent. In addition to competition among catering enterprises, greater competition arises from other industries, including the entry of new brands, which raises human resource issues. The problem of rents, which has been plaguing the caterers for so long, is in fact a game between the real estate chain and the catering industry as a whole. It is not a problem that businesses can change completely through their own innovations and efforts. It is also a difficult problem that almost all catering enterprises are strongly reflecting。

It is noteworthy that the five major pain spots are intrinsically linked. Bae liang stressed that industrial problems could not be solved by “head and foot pain”. The supply chain required new technologies, the problems of human resources could not be solved by hr alone, which had returned to the construction of catering ecology. In turn, enterprises that have better supply chain management, better digital applications and better branding are also better equipped to recruit, attract and retain good talent。
