The chinese express delivery industry, referred to as the “black horse” of the chinese economy, fully advanced into the “billions of times” in 2014. Yesterday, 27 october, the national post office informed that on 20 october, the cumulative operation of the national express service company exceeded 10 billion, the first time in our country that our express delivery year had exceeded 10 billion。
China's express delivery took 26 years, from zero to 1 billion; from 1 billion to 10 billion, it took only eight years. This is inextricably linked to the explosive growth of chinese electric operators。
In industry, journalists for daily economic news have stated that the “era of billions” will be a historic turning point in china's express delivery industry: on the one hand, the domestic express delivery market network is largely in shape, and quantitative changes are driving change in the quality of china's courier industry, from “price war” to “service war”; and, on the other hand, with ali baba on the market in new york city, accelerating the development of cross-border electric operators, china's express delivery industry faces new challenges — cross-border logistics。
This was also said to be one of the main reasons for the decision taken by the state council at its standing committee meeting on 24 september to “further open domestic courier markets and promote fair and orderly competition among domestic and foreign investors”, and to compensate for the short cut-off in cross-border logistics while also accelerating the achievement of the blue sea, china's delivery of the next “hundreds of times”。
9. 39 billion completed in the first three quarters
The national post office announced that the annual volume of chinese express delivery operations had increased from 1 billion in 2006 to 9. 19 billion in 2013, with an average annual increase of 37. 3 per cent, and market size had jumped to the second highest in the world. Behind this strong growth is the increase in the market size of our network purchases from over $30 billion in 2006 to $1. 85 trillion in 2013。
According to data obtained yesterday from the national post office by the daily economic news journalist, in the first three quarters of 2014, the total number of express service enterprises nationwide was 9. 39 billion, an increase of 52 per cent over the same period. In september, for the first time in a single month, the volume of courier operations exceeded 1. 2 billion, with average delivery operations exceeding 40 million per day; the cumulative income of courier operations increased by more than 40 per cent over the same period, and the income of single-month operations reached a record high. For the first time, the share of income from express delivery operations in industry-wide operations exceeded 60 per cent, reaching 61. 5 per cent, an increase of 7. 7 percentage points over the same period of the previous year。
In terms of the domestic market, the strong growth in business volume was mainly in the east. In the first three quarters, the volume of courier operations in the eastern region increased by more than the national average, while the three main priority areas of the long triangle, the pearl triangle and kyonzu were over-represented nationwide, with a combined delivery rate of 6. 8 billion, or 72. 4 per cent of the total。
In guangzhou, since august, when cumulatively operating in excess of shanghai and beijing, the first nine months have continued to rank first at 940 million, making it a city with an average of over 100 million for the first month of operation。
Last year, the “two eleventh” of our courier operations exceeded 300 million, but the “explosive” situation has decreased significantly compared to previous years, indicating the maturity of the domestic courier network。
As the domestic express delivery industry moves forward, cross-border logistics is considered to be a bottleneck and a new challenge for china's express delivery industry in its “billions age”。
According to data released yesterday by the national post office, in the first three quarters, only 2. 4 per cent of the total volume of international and hong kong-australian courier operations was in the first three quarters, on the one hand because of the large inland delivery base and, on the other hand, because the international business market is currently dominated by four major international couriers (dhl, fedex, ups, tnt)。
Need to accelerate cross-border layout
The decision of the standing committee of the state council on 24 september this year to “further open domestic courier markets and promote fair and orderly competition among domestic and foreign investors” was considered a milestone for the development of the express delivery industry。
A year-long researcher on international air freight said to daily economics reporters that such “openness” was profound, as the external layout of domestic private couriers remained conservative and slow, while the country's largest electric power company, ali baba, had been listed in the united states this year, and cross-border electricians urgently needed cross-border logistics matching. While the four major international express delivery giants temporarily compensate for the short base of domestic cross-border logistics, their localization and competition in china will bring more market development experience to chinese express delivery firms。
At the same time, china's expressing enterprise has smelled business opportunities and has begun to organize actively for the possible achievement of cross-border logistics in china's next “hundred-billion-era” blue sea. On 26 october, it was announced that an order had been signed with boeing for the conversion of 767-300 er passengers and that more than 30 second-hand 757 and 767 passenger aircraft would be purchased from boeing on the size of the current fleet of 36。
At present, boeing 767 is most suitable for use in intercontinental voyages in medium freight markets. The acquisition of an additional 30 second-hand passenger aircraft for re-routing has not yet been confirmed, but this is undoubtedly a prelude to further adding to cross-border logistics。
However, compared to the international courier giant, the success of the largest fleet of couriers in the country is still in its infancy。
Public data show that the united states federal express fleet is over 600 and that trans-shipment centres are located in major global aviation hubs, which is also central to the competitiveness of global couriers in cross-border logistics。
Journalists are also aware that, in support of ali baba's first “two-xie” globalization strategy after his listing in the united states, the greenbird network has completed the deployment of logistics resources in more than 200 countries and regions and has achieved global coverage, with few chinese couriers working together. This also proves once again that china express still needs a quick whip for its future cross-border logistics。
