Zhang yan, a primary schoolteacher, is giving sixth graders my career education. Classes

At the beginning of the school year, in the autumn of 2025, the eighth experimental primary school in the tawon city district carefully designed to open a mental health education programme to convey the deep concern and high expectations of the students
At the psychiatry park in the five-way primary school in the almonds of the city of taiwon city, there is a tense relay race. The fourth graders are sweating their hands and making a series of mistakes. This boy, who is silent in the classroom and who is afraid of group activity in physical education class, has a weak sense of self-confidence as a candle in the wind. "it's ok, next time steady!" "you're good!" "you're good!" "you're careless" and every time you finish a round, you give him a high five. When the ball fell right into the final cup, the sound of cheer broke out. They're stuck in the middle with a small, rare smile on their faces。
The story of the little wings is happening in a growing number of campuses in my province. In the area of adolescent mental health, we are following up on the implementation of the ministry of education and the provincial governments' decision-making in order to refine the methodology and defunct point, from the top of the department concerned to the dynamic practice of each school, a “care” initiative to protect the minds of millions of school children, with a network of warm and storytellers being created throughout the province。
Weave a net across the province, and weave into our worries
“scanning this code, filling in online information on the time, place, type, etc. Of mental health volunteering required, and making an appointment once the invitation has been uploaded, is particularly convenient.” on 25 december 2025, dr. Liu jia, the mental health education and counselling centre of shanxi university of finance and economics, gave a two-dimensional presentation on the visible computer screen of the “sanxi province mental health volunteering platform”. In june 2025, the provincial education department officially launched the platform, which allows all provincial primary and secondary schools to make online appointments with tertiary experts to obtain home-based mental health volunteering。
“guiding for psychological adjustment of children left behind and children of special families, pre-cumulation psychological empowerment, upgrading of teachers' psychological counselling and group counselling skills, and parental training lectures ... When the platform came online, local education bureaux and schools responded positively and demand was high.” according to liu jia, “almost 200 applications for voluntary service have been received, covering four areas: teacher training, scientific literacy, teaching guidance, professional support, of which the greatest demand is for professional support, about 48 per cent, followed by teacher training, about 30 per cent”. The provincial college of mental health volunteering group is divided into blocks, which are carried out sequentially by the lead tertiary institutions, giving priority to the needs of remote areas and non-full-time psychiatric schools。
The mental health of primary and secondary school students is of concern to the lycans and to nation-building and national renewal. The establishment of provincial mental health volunteer platforms is a microcosm of our provincial system to advance mental health education. Mental health care for primary and secondary school students, with a high level of responsibility: through regular scheduling, thematic deployment at conferences and the issuance of a series of relevant documents, a “responsibility network” from province to school is becoming clearer, and a system of health education, monitoring early warning, counselling and intervention to deal with “the four ones” is gradually being improved。
Stronger support comes from the professional workforce. The provincial department of education has directed the integration of mental health education in primary and secondary schools throughout the province, with an annual increase in the number of full-time mental health teachers, with more than 95 per cent of schools staffed by at least one full-time (and-time) teacher; the organization of 68 tertiary mental health volunteer teams, based on an integrated collaborative mechanism “led by one provincial undergraduate college, with the participation of n higher education institutions and one city in a row”, such as the “light cavalry”, which delivers professional services to all three corners; the establishment of the union of teachers of mental health education in higher education and the organization of seminars and the organization of the first provincial conference of mental health teachers at the primary and secondary levels。
I want to be part of the school's daily life
From 2024 onwards, the ministry of education will designate may as “national student mental health awareness and education month”. Mental health education, if it is merely a one-winding exercise, is inevitable. In my province, many schools are trying to settle it down as part of school life and even as a culture。

It's an original school drama show at the high school in taiwon city, where the students stage themselves and turn their inner confusion and growth into a dramatic conflict
At the secondary level in taiwon city, mental health education is accompanied by a “research model”. “today's math class raises hands to answer the right question, and i'm proud of myself” “to thank my colleagues for sharing his raincoat without my umbrella” ... The teacher of psychology, gao peijin, has a daily “active conversation” with students, which is part of the practical study of teachers' positive language in the context of the school's provincial theme, “twinning down” to improve their sense of self-effectiveness. In the last five years, the school has completed three provincial planning topics, which provide the basis for precision, scientific mental health education。
Another provincial project, the study on the paths to mental health education for secondary school students from the perspective of co-friendship in schools, has been working for three years on the development of a tripartite meeting mechanism for “masters-teachers-parents”. The teacher clearly remembers her story: in one of the english classes, the senior students suddenly forced their minds to understand, analysed the grammar structure of every sentence in their minds, and their heart beats their breathing. She undertook a rapid assessment and gathered together with school directors and parents to agree on coping strategies: a short break for the child, parents to study for stress reduction, and classroom directors to communicate learning patterns and mentalities。
In 2025, adult secondary schools also developed a “small but beautiful” care strategy, with intensive “mental health month” activities scattered over time and in precise layers. In april, classes were held to give an enabling lecture on “being a happy pathfinder”, with three junior students listening to “making pressure an ally” and the first pupil's parents listening to experts on “how to make a good junior high school student”; in may, an interactive exhibition of psychological experience was held, with special areas such as the island of psychological knowledge, self-assurance narration, the poem of answers, the energy emblem workshop being popular; and in december, students staged their own school psychology plays, bringing confusion to the stage。
In parallel with activities, security of positions and teams, and co-production of “school-based social doctors”, mental health education has developed a mature and innovative system of work in primary schools, from prevention to universal access to interventions and support, to create an “ecological dam” for the mental health of students across the chain。
“the school has developed its own mental health curriculum and has established a professional functional area -” the young people's mental health development centre in namyang town formed a counselling team centred on full-time psychologists and classroom directors.” the school's psychological teacher, zhang yan, gave a presentation. In may of each year, the school also organizes psychological workshops, psychological drawings displays, group psychological games and a variety of activities such as psychological cinemas and al+ psychology. In 2024, the school established a “parents college”, established a “institute of psychological studies” and worked with the shanxi teacher training university school of educational sciences to build a “basket of practical teaching and scientific practice”; in mid-november 2025, at the 7th china public interest fair on innovative results in education, the five-way primary school group “construction and practical exploration of the "six love" programme, based on core mastery”, received high attention from participating experts and peers。
“retrofitting the 100-year tradition of `appreciation of education', schools have independently developed the `six love' practice group, which provides the `sun west program' for the routing of core basic education. The headmaster of the group, liu zhilong, introduced the "school has a `one-minded three-dimensional' model, with a core `three-dimensional' approach, a horizontal integration of `five-child' content, with vertically low, medium- and high-level classes designed to achieve the goal of "love movement, love to read, master to master, love to live, love to think, love to love home" the six major groups of courses have been transformed into a functioning and assessable system of procreation, trying to plant the seeds of love in the hearts of the children, accompanying them in their spiritual growth and human advancement from `small me' to `big me'.”
Continuously optimize collaborative mechanisms to promote the physical and mental health of students
All systems and courses end up reaching every specific person. When the mind is actually seen, change begins。
In the course of the "listen to the voices of flowers" theme session in the western school of primary school, the children wrote anonymously: "the happiest thing is to finish handy with the table": "i want to have no quarrels with my best friends." teacher patiently guided the students to embrace emotions and become the expression of a "sweet master" game; taught the students to play the "emotional face" game and learn to communicate their hearts in the appropriate language; taught them to say, "i'm sorry that you broke my pen, can you apologize?" the live exercise, "how do you make up when you're in conflict with a friend," went from "you hate" to "i care about our friendship, can we talk about it" and developed warm and effective communication skills in interaction。

At the primary school camp in taiwon city, the students took up the drawing of a pen to create the emotional monster
At the primary school “felter brigade” in taiwon, the children performed interesting “emotional imitation shows” with their faces and limbs, drawing “emotional monsters” and picturing their emotions; and in the “emotional resolution wheel” game, there was a strong sharing of their “emotional magic”: “deep respiration balloons” to calm themselves down, “painting out”, “going out to friends”, “runting to the playground” ... “every time for emotional awareness and acceptance is a valuable psychological gift on the way to growth.” one teacher said。
“the fertile soil of the heart is in the vast life of the `integration of the `fives'.” zhang weimin, the headmaster of the secondary school, said. At the day of school cultivation, students make nameplates in biology classes, and art classes depict growth; in “walking classes”, students experience life in botanical gardens, history of dialogue in museums, and the will of the east mountain troupe ... Psycho-resilience, emotional adjustment and development are embedded in work, beauty and sport。
The mental health education series has been widely implemented in schools throughout the province. Promotion of physical and mental health and personality formation of students through work-months, art exhibitions, school opening days, cultural and artistic festivals, etc.; continuous optimization of collaborative mechanisms to promote collaboration between home-school institutions and “religious associations”; translation of the concept of “five-childhood” for mental health into practical action, based on educational months for students' mental health promotion, “first class” and secondary and higher examinations
Education is a warm walk across the wall. In my province, from the integrated platform of the provincial education department to the sandboard game in the “hinyang town”, to the phrase “i feel” in class class, mental health education is free from emptiness and ambiguity and becomes concrete and alive. “in the next step, the provincial department of education will use the mental health work of students as a major task in promoting the building of strong and powerful provinces and providing education to the satisfaction of the population. It will continue its efforts to promote mental health, improve the monitoring system, establish intervention mechanisms, improve the system of work, strengthen scientific research and promote the dissemination of science. It will strengthen sectoral collaboration, mobilize the entire community, raise the overall level of mental health of students, and work together on a major article on mental health education for students in the new age.” (reporter lee linxia)
