According to the report, as of the end of 2017, 23,1564 persons held press accreditations issued by the national directorate of press and publications, including 84,761 newspaper journalists, 6324 periodical journalists, 2849 news agency correspondents, 13,6224 journalists from radio, television and news film studios and 1406 journalists from news websites. China has collaborated with national people's groups in the chinese press to increase their efforts to defend the legitimate rights and interests of journalists, to strengthen the protection of copyright in news works, to support media journalists in exercising their right to interview in accordance with the law, and to expand the coverage and impact of assistance projects for journalists. It continued to play an active role in highlighting issues of governance and regulating professional behaviour, advocating for a culture of journalism, press reviews, promoting a greater sense of social responsibility in the media and making positive progress in the development of public information ethics.
