From 4 to 5 july, the national patent agent qualification examination in 2026 was conducted simultaneously in 33 municipalities in the interior of the country and in the hong kong special administrative region. This year, there were three examination stations in shanghai and three administrative districts in pudong, jian an and qin, with a total of 3309 successful candidates, 19 of whom were from hong kong and macao。

In order to ensure the smooth running of the examinations, the national intellectual property authority has sent in-depth assessment teams to conduct the examinations, while the director of the municipal intellectual property authority, zhu kai-gau, and the deputy director-general of the national intellectual property authority have conducted field visits to the examination stations in shanghai。

In keeping with the spirit of first-instance reform, the shanghai review centre has been proactive in its efforts to serve the country's national strategy for the development of intellectual property rights throughout the country. It has been guided by the concept of “takers for their own purposes and best for their service”. At the registration stage, the “0 contribution” policy is implemented for the benefit of the population, and the cost of applying for the examination is borne jointly by the municipal financial resources. Prior to the examination, the shanghai city intellectual property service organized a three-month pre-test training course that was systematic, professional and pro bono. It provided free help to prepare candidates for the examination, helped them to build up their professional base, improved their competencies and effectively supported the development of the municipal intellectual property workforce. During the examination period, the shanghai examination process was well-positioned and conducted, and the examination work requirements were strictly enforced. Pre-test checks and training are carried out comprehensively at all examination stations; early communication with the electricity and network providers is recorded, and every effort is made to ensure the security and stability of electricity and the network during examinations; emergency materials, such as summer cooling, are available at the examination sites; and medical personnel are stationed at all stations to respond to emergencies. In addition, the shanghai examination has strengthened the guarantee of care for special candidates, providing one-on-one services for pregnant women and for candidates with reduced mobility, and effectively addressing practical difficulties in their access to the examination process。

Intellectual property talent is the central engine for innovative development and the cornerstone of a strategy to build a strong intellectual property power and an international intellectual property centre city in shanghai. Next, the shanghai examination will continue to explore the development of a base of practice for patent agents, which will provide a full-chain career promotion service for industry practitioners, in line with the city's high-level industry agencies。
