On 28 july 2022, the twelfth world hepatitis day, the theme of this year's campaign was “preventing hepatitis, healthy you and me”。
Hepatitis virus infections include hepatitis virus carriers and hepatitis patients. Viral hepatitis is the main type of hepatitis, and viral hepatitis is caused by a variety of hepatitis viruses, including, inter alia, a, b, c, d and e。
Hepatitis, caused by different viruses, is transmitted differently from clinical processes after infection. Hepa a and hepatitis e are digestive tracts of disease that can be transmitted by contaminated hand, food or water: hepatitis b, d and c are mainly transmitted through mother, child, sex and blood transfusion. Hepatitis a and e are mostly self-restricted diseases, with very few chronic infections; however, hepatitis b and c can cause chronic infections, with a high risk of cirrhosis and liver cancer. Clinical data show that nearly 80 per cent of liver cancer cases are caused by both hepatitis b and c. As a result, the two viruses are also the main causes of cirrhosis and liver cancer。
The main preventive measure against hepatitis is hepatitis vaccination. Hepatitis, with the exception of hepatitis c, is vaccine-preventable. Currently, more than 180 countries and regions have introduced hepatitis prevention, including hepatitis b vaccine for newborn infants。
To urge governments to further strengthen the fight against viral hepatitis, this year the world health organization has launched a new global framework for hepatitis prevention and control, identifying four areas for the fight against hepatitis infection, including, inter alia, raising awareness, promoting cooperation and mobilizing resources, translating scientific evidence into policies and actions, preventing transmission, and conducting screening, care and treatment。
