Wi-fi history
Before introducing wi-fi, we will look at two organizations: the institute of electrical and electronic engineers (english full name)Nics engineerings, short of ieee and wi-fi alliance (english full of wi-fi alliance, short of wfa)。
As a standard organization, iee had established as early as 1990 a working group on 802. 11 to develop standards for wireless local area networks and had issued the first standard 802. 11-1997 in 1997. Every few years thereafter, the 802. 11 standard has been upgraded to seven generations。

802. 11 standard evolution
Another organization, the wi-fi alliance, is actually a business organization. The initial purpose of the alliance was to promote the development of the 802. 11b standard and to promote globally compatible certification of products that meet the ieee 802. 11 standard; by 2000, the organization had adopted the term “wi-fi” as its technical preserve and had announced the use of wi-fi alliance as its official name, the wi-fi alliance, which was actually the trademark of the union。
Wi-fi meaning
What does “wi-fi” mean in particular? There are two versions: the first is that wi-fi refers to wireless integrity, similar to the audio equipment classification: long-term high-level or hi-fi; and the other is that wi-fi does not have a special meaning or full title。
At present, there is no official organization that clearly indicates wi-fi, or gives a definition of wi-fi。
Moreover, “wi-fi” is often written as “wifi” or “wifi”, which are not actually accepted by the wi-fi alliance。
The difference between wi-fi and 802. 11
Although ieee 802. 11 standards have been developed and issued, they do not provide the corresponding testing services for equipment meeting the ieee 802. 11 protocol standards; at the same time, because the ieee 802. 11 standards are theoretical, there may be a wide variety of products produced by each manufacturer once they are produced. The wi-fi alliance has successfully addressed the issue of the compatibility of production and equipment of products meeting the ieee 802. 11 standard, while the wi-fi union has also been responsible for the wi-fi certification of various wireless local area network equipment to test products for compliance with the ieee 802. 11 protocol standard and, upon certification, for labelling “wi-fi” trademarks on the equipment。
Wi-fi and iee 802. 11 are often confused because of the close links between the two systems, and in fact they are different. In summary, iee 802. 11 is a wireless lan standard, while wi-fi is a product of ieee 802. 11. The ieee 802. 11 standard product realization includes, in addition to wi-fi, wigig, which is the best developed product。
The difference between wi-fi and wlan
Wi-fi refers to the trademark of the wi-fi union and is a wireless network communication technology based on the ieee 802. 11 standard, with the aim of improving interoperability among wireless network products based on the ieee 802. 11 standard。
Wlan is fully known as wireless local area network, which in chinese means wireless lan. Wlan's definition is broad and narrow: in a broad sense, wlan replaces a network consisting of some or all of the transmission media in a network of radio waves (e. G. Lasers, infrareds, etc.) in place of radio channels; wlan's narrow definition is based on the ieee 802. 11 series of standards, using high frequency wireless frequency (e. G., 2. 4 ghz, 5 ghz or 6 ghz band radio magnetic waves) as a wireless area network for transmission media. Wlan in our daily lives is the narrow definition of wlan. In the evolution and development of wlan, many technical standards have been achieved, such as bluetooth, wi-fi, hyperlan2 and others. Wi-fi technology, on the other hand, has become the dominant wlan technical standard by virtue of its relatively simple, reliable communications, high flexibility and relatively low cost, and wi-fi technology has gradually become a proxy for wlan technical standards。
Simply put, wlan is a network system, and wi-fi is a technology in this network system. So the relationship between wlan and wi-fi is inclusive, and wlan includes wi-fi。
What's a wireless access point
A wi-fi network, usually consisting of at least one wireless access point (access point, known as ap), one or more wireless terminals, allows wireless access points to be connected to the wi-fi network, which are provided by wi-fi devices such as wi-fi (which integrates wireless access points) and wi-fi. Ap provides wireless access to wireless terminals based on the 802. 11 standard, acting as a bridge between the cable network and the wireless network。
Ap can launch wireless signals of 2. 4 ghz, 5 ghz and 6 ghz in wireless bands, thus providing 2. 4 ghz, 5 ghz and 6 ghz wireless networks for wireless terminals supporting different frequency bands。
Type of deployment of wi-fi network
In the home-based wi-fi scene, wi-fi connections are most commonly achieved through home-based wireless routers. On the other hand, in the enterprise wi-fi scene, china provided several types of wi-fi network deployment for wireless networks, as follows。
