In order to ensure a steady supply of fruit and vegetables for effective preparedness and response to winter disasters, on 15 january the expert of the national system of industrial technology for west melon and professor of the faculty of horticultural sciences of hunan university of agriculture, dashui, together with the university of changde university institute of agroforestry, a team of industry experts for west melon, went to the west melon plantation centre in changde county, in order to provide technical guidance for pre-cool facility production。
According to the latest weather forecasts, i have recently been able to save a large range of cold, wind and snowy weather processes, with an average temperature of 8 to 12°c and a minimum temperature of 4°c, which will have a negative impact on agricultural production in my province, particularly the production of fruit and vegetables in facilities. The experts made the following recommendations to farmers in each base:
I. Preparedness in advance. Close attention to weather forecasting, preparation of emergency supplies such as snow-cutting tools, heat-heating machines, heat-heating equipment, membranes, etc. In advance; timely overhaul and reinforcement of shed structures to enhance multi-layer coverage to protect against freezing of guacamole seedlings; timely harvesting and marketing of mature vegetables to reduce losses
Ii. Active response to rain and snow. The timely cleaning of shed areas following snowfall can accelerate snow melting by elevating snow agents or salt to prevent the collapse of sheds due to snow pressure; if snow from roofing cannot be removed in a timely manner and there is a risk of collapse, an emergency measure should be taken to “defilm shelter”。
Strengthening field management in post-disaster situations. After the weather has improved, the damaged facilities are repaired, reinforced or dismantled in a timely manner, subject to ensuring safety; light, timely ventilation should be increased as soon as possible for the less damaged plant in the shed, and the spraying of thamatene and potassium phosphate on the leaves to facilitate the resumption of growth; and broad spectrum microcicides such as methyl sulphate, polyspirin and enzymes to prevent disease。
