In terms of innovation in the digital economy, according to the 35 technical areas classified by the world intellectual property organization (wipo), by the end of 2023 the technology areas in which the patent increase for effective inventions had taken place in the country were the three highest in terms of information technology management methods, computer technology and basic communications procedures, with growth of 59. 4 per cent, 39. 3 per cent and 30. 8 per cent, respectively, over the same period, well above the average domestic growth levels, indicating that the country maintained a high level of innovation heat in the digital technology sector and sustained efficiency gains for quality development in the digital economy。
On the patent for inventions, our innovative enterprises have accelerated the shaping of new development advantages. It is understood that firms account for more than 70 per cent of domestic patents for effective inventions and are the main agents driving innovation creation. Over the past five years, the country's patent-intensive industry has grown steadily, with its value added exceeding $15 trillion for the first time in 2022, at an average annual rate of 9. 4 per cent, which is 2. 4 percentage points higher than the average annual increase in current GDP prices during the same period.
