In the face of unknown teaching materials, she often prepares classes until late hours at the beginning of the day and encounters problems she does not understand, she takes the initiative to consult with experienced old teachers, whose teaching skills have been significantly improved through continuous research and refining。
During the breaks, han yong's desk is always surrounded by students. Some of the children took the text and asked carefully how to change the sentence; some were excited to pull her and tell her about the new guacamole or the wedding beauties they saw in the evening; and others were able to pass over a painting with a flying house or a train that passed through the clouds, which was their pure imagination of the world. Every passion for the children is taken seriously by han-hong, who often sits down, looks at the children's eyes and listens to them patiently. When the text was revised, she not only modified the words, but also wrote words of encouragement — “this metaphor is vivid” — “specificly observed”. There are also pictures of children who are carefully attached to the walls of the office, and every child can see that her work is valued, and thus feel the joy of being valued. In these seven years, han yung has patiently and sincerely protected the children's desire for knowledge and imagination, and has carried out the first heart of a village teacher on ordinary days。
Lighting a special star with love
In 2012, han yong arrived at the white flower elementary school in yanlian county, where a boy named yang was in her class, facing considerable obstacles in learning and behaviour due to difficulties in concentrating, unable to participate normally in questions and answers and examinations like other classmates, sometimes shouting or applauding, and even disturbing the teaching order by immersing in her own world. Every time yang offered to help, she immediately praised him for a sugar and praised him in front of the class, guiding everyone to give him a round of applause. With the patient guidance of han yong and the collective inclusion of the class, yang gradually felt the warmth of his admission and learned to look at him more favourably。
I've grown my books into the dirt
In the work of the junior team, han yong has always made “breeders” a central task. Aware of the limited access of mountain children to the outside world, and in order to promote the full development of their students, she has created a unique practice class at whiteflower primary school - and the field is a classroom, the head is a teaching tool, and the clay is a textbook. A group of children surrounded the fields and focused on the soil that had been turned up, with curiosity and anticipation, was the “five generations integration classroom” designed by han-hong. When she found that the concept of the “spring harvest” in the textbooks was too abstract for the students, she took the children into the fields, touched the earth, explained the process of crop growth and raised her necks to demonstrate working skills so that children could learn in practice. The sweat slipped from her forehead, and she encouraged the students: “this is the exercise of the spirit we are not afraid of suffering.” the dirt covered the corner of her shirt, and she laughed, “this is the medal that nature gave us.”
In han's view, education must not be limited to listening to books, and she insists that knowledge be carried with the fragrance of clay, and that the quality that is not tired or dirty be nurtured through real labour sweat. She has integrated a variety of educational objectives, such as physical exercise, personality formation, natural observation and collective collaboration, into every work done in the field. The children learn not only about farming, but also about the value of food, respect for nature and solidarity in common labour. According to han, the growth of mountain children should be based on the wisdom of the books and the solidness of the earth; both the ability to write pens and the ability to bear the weight of the rain, and in the simplest way, she has laid out for the children a path of growth that connects knowledge and life, school and field, so that education can take root in the real soil and flourish。
For more than two decades, the children of the mountain were nourished in silence by han-hong, who, with love and strength, opened up the clouds, sowing hope for every child, so that they could see the blue sky beyond the mountains, build the power of the wings, do nothing but grow day after day, and do nothing but act with a shock.
