On 1 december 2020, the 33rd world aids day, the theme of this year's campaign was “working together against aids and shared responsibility for health”. On the same day, guangdong province and guangzhou city jointly organized the world aids day campaign at the guangzhou city vocational college, which launched the guangdong province public sexually healthy aids prevention and friendly service platform, opening up the month of aids testing consultations in guangdong province and guangzhou city。
The event was attended by teachers and students from the guangzhou city vocational college and by people from nearby street communities, who participated in the award-winning aids prevention and control sessions by watching videos of new coronary pneumonia and aids awareness campaigns, the “interactive reverse” aids campaign and a peer education demonstration. On-site hiv/aids counselling and other counselling and peer education activities on the theme of aids prevention were also conducted。
The hiv epidemic in the province is low
By the end of october 2020, there were 120 aids monitoring posts and 2379 aids testing laboratories throughout the province. In january-june 2020, as a result of the new coronary pneumonia epidemic, the number of aids tests was approximately 7. 27 million in the province, a decrease of 12. 6 per cent compared to the same period last year; and in july-october, the province increased its efforts to provide testing services to approximately 7. 14 million people, an increase of 15. 1 per cent over the same period last year. At present, hiv coverage is expanding throughout the province, with 57944 treatments and 81. 3 per cent coverage. The aids follow-up rate is 86. 7 per cent, and interventions for high-risk groups are increasing。
At the same time, pilot piloting has been promoted throughout the province, and the effectiveness of the integrated response demonstration areas has been further enhanced. In 2019, guangdong added eight provincial model districts, based on five national model districts, to include most of the more affected districts in the model districts, focusing on their critical role in containing the aids epidemic and exploring new models for prevention and treatment。
Social organizations are also visible. In 2020, a total of 62 aids prevention and treatment projects in 42 social organizations across the province received funding from national or provincial aids funds, in the areas of hiv education, high-risk behaviour interventions and patient care。

By the end of october 2020, a cumulative total of 71,235 cases of live hiv infections and aids patients were reported across the province in guangdong province, of which 41,930 were hiv infections and 29,305 aids patients. Maternal prevalence rate stabilized at low prevalence

It was described that guangdong had effectively cut off mother-to-child transmission of aids by conducting pregnancy and childbirth screening to provide timely and integrated interventions for pregnant women and their babies。
The hiv prevalence rate among pregnant women in guangdong has stabilized at a low prevalence level, given the characteristics of the aids epidemic throughout the province. Data from the guangdong maternal and child health monitoring system show that in january-october 2020, the testing rate for maternal aids in the province remained at 99. 90 per cent, with a positive rate of 20. 9 million. The rate of mother-to-child transmission of hiv in guangdong province fell from 6. 84 per cent in 2013 to 1. 67 per cent in 2019. In five years, 483 cases of mother-to-child transmission of hiv were prevented in the province。
According to journalists, guangdong province became one of the first seven regional laboratories for early diagnosis of hiv infections in china, after its acceptance by the china center for disease prevention and control in june 2014. It undertook the early diagnosis of hiv infections among infants in the four provinces of south china (zhejiang, fujian, hainan and guangdong) and, in july 2015, established an information management platform for early diagnosis of hiv infections in guangdong province, which provides safe and rapid early diagnosis services for infants born to hiv-infected mothers, based on a full range of services such as sample collection, specimen trans-shipment, sample testing and feedback on results。

In the context of the rapid development of the new media platform, guangdong has been constantly improving the form of information and education on hiv/aids through the new media, and has launched the micro-intelligence public station, which offers sexual health prevention and treatment friendly services。
The platform is known to have moved education against aids to sexual health education to enrich hiv prevention education. The population is not only able to access a service of online science counselling and testing, but also to exchange credits for gifts by hand. “this method of education is more likely to attract and encourage a broad cross-section of the population throughout the province, thereby contributing to the effectiveness of aids education throughout the province.”
On 1 december, the station was officially inaugurated by the centre for disease prevention and control of guangdong province and the association for sexually transmitted diseases prevention and control of guangdong province, which has three main sections of the “expert service” “personal centre” of the “coptic park”。
