In an effort to boost the capacity of grass-roots chinese medicine services in a solid manner, the second three-day basic chinese medicine appropriate technical training in xue city district was successfully completed at the xue city central hospital in noboa city, with the participation of 25 middle-level medical cadres from the village health units (community health services) in the districts。
At the opening session, the head of the college stated that chinese medicine was a treasure of the chinese nation and that chinese medicine had an irreplaceable role to play in primary health care, with its distinctive advantage of being simple, easy, affordable. It is hoped that the participants will fully appreciate the importance of this training, value the opportunities for learning, and truly learn about appropriate chinese medicine, so that more people at the grass-roots level can benefit from it。

The skills training is based on practical needs at the grass-roots level, with acupuncture, pick-up, acupuncture, canning, lacquering and other commonly used technologies at the grass-roots level, with technical guidance and hands-on teaching to improve the overall capacity of medical services at the grass-roots level。
During the course, the participants went into various sections of the central hospital in xue city, such as acupuncture and septics, body weight management clinics, medium-medicine nursing clinics, paediatrics clinics, chinese pharmacies and adult rehabilitation units, and engaged in intensive exchanges and repeated exercises with teachers, not only consolidating theoretical knowledge but also improving their capacity to solve practical problems and providing strong support for future clinical work。
This training has helped to enrich the technical expertise of health-care providers at the grass-roots level and has ensured the further upgrading of health services at the primary level. The xue city hospital will make full use of the platform of the centre for the promotion of appropriate technologies for chinese medicine, increase its efforts to promote appropriate technologies for chinese medicine, provide guidance on appropriate technologies for chinese medicine at the grass-roots level, and improve the availability of “simply, easily tested and affordable” chinese medicine services for residents of the bailiwick, taking advantage of the advantages of chinese medicine in combating common and multiple diseases.
