Four suspects have been arrested and a large number of counterfeit coins, paintings and jade instruments have been seized, amounting to over $1 million。

The 71-year-old mother-in-law likes the collections of old games and jade instruments, and often goes to the old market. In december 2020, when she passed through a collection called the “wa ding tung”, she was attracted by the shopkeepers' whistling noise of “incoming to get a small gift” and immediately arrived at the shop to “know the product”。

The shopkeeper added her tweets, which were followed by regular inquiries about warmth, exchanges of ideas and repeated invitations to collect small gifts such as eggs. About a month later, mrs. Wang received a call from the director of the store: “one of your carrier seals was seen by zhang, but zhang asked for four at once, and the store could buy you three more at a high price”. The mother-in-law bought three collections out of $120,000 a second from her pension, waiting to make a big profit。
But later, the shopkeeper pushed him for various reasons until the day of august this year, when my mother-in-law suddenly found out that her tweets had been taken away, and that the hwa ding dynasty had been closed. Upon being informed, the family contacted a professional body to verify that the collections purchased by the elderly were stored in unprofitable places. On 15 august, the mother-in-law, accompanied by her family, came to the police station of the changji city public security bureau to call the police。
Investigation: fraud syndicates surfaced
The mother-in-law told the police chief of the shop “radjaing” and provided her cell phone number. However, after investigation, the civilian police found that the identity information and contact details were false and that, for almost two years, her mother-in-law had been in touch with “radjaing” on twitter and had not met with her online, thus preventing her from accurately describing the physical characteristics of the suspect and leading to an impasse in the investigation。
The task force, in cooperation with the market supervision authorities, has developed a new approach to the identification of suspects and has conducted in-depth investigations and research to contact six other victims. Until then, however, none of the victims realized that they had been deceived and were still trapped in a well-designed scheme by the fraudster。
The specialized civilian police collected regular evidence in a timely manner and found that fraud methods were the same: fraud syndicates lured elderly and middle-aged people who lacked expertise in collections into shops by issuing leaflets, giving small gifts and making telephone offers, falsely claiming that the store's collections had authoritative certificates that could be appreciated and sold and auctioned, thus creating a trap。
Following a six-month rigorous investigation, a fraud syndicate based on a “receivables” physical store has been operating on a long-term basis with a fixed pattern of fraudulent payments to older persons, with stable, clearly divided and hierarchically structured members。
On 1 september, a network of specialized civilian police officers managed to capture four members of the gang, lui chiu, and others, in the city area. A large number of counterfeit coins, paintings, jade instruments, etc., were seized at the scene, together with evidence of the gang accounts and the list of victims. More than 100 people were verified to have been deceived。
Bottom up: careful preparation of the script to cheat on old age money
Between may 2020 and july 2021, the suspects, lu and li co-financed the establishment of the qingchang cultural and art company ltd., recruited employees of the same class, bought cheap handicrafts, pseudonyms and poor-quality jade products at a low price, and produced false certificates, which were then carefully packaged, priced and sold to the elderly population. Liars claim that “receivers” can appreciate in a short period of time, obtain several times, if not dozens, of high returns, and falsely promise to buy back, store and sell。
At the same time, the fraud syndicate has carefully crafted “shows” to promote mutual trust with the victims through pre-prepared chats, and then impersonates as “the master of the jade device” and falsely claims to be a “sale sale” for “friends” and so on, selling the goods in the store at so-called “costs” at a “discounted discount” price, thereby swindling the money of a large number of older persons。
The investigation verified that the group had committed more than 20 separate crimes, with a total value of over $1 million. At present, the pursuit of the cases, the recovery of stolen property, the stringing and digging of the cases are under intense strain。
