Guided by the natural science fund's guidelines for original exploration projects
National natural science fund (nwf) guidelines guide original exploration project 2020
— guide to research project on mapping and evolution of earth's scientific knowledge at depths
In order to follow up on the important strategic deployments of the party centre and the state council to strengthen basic research, further strengthen original innovations, promote cross-cutting disciplines and respond positively to paradigm changes in scientific research, the ministry of earth sciences of the national council for the natural sciences (hereinafter referred to as the natural science foundation) intends to finance the original exploration project “study of the evolution of earth scientific knowledge and knowledge in deep time” (hereinafter referred to as the “preliminary project”), aimed at exploring the theory and methodology of the evolution of earth scientific knowledge and knowledge in deep time, in the context of the era of rapid development of the data revolution, with a view to promoting the transformative development of earth science in deep data-driven depth。
I. Overall scientific objectives
The project focuses on the earth field, explores the intrinsic logic of the earth's scientific knowledge system at a time when the content system is complex and complex, creates key theories and methods appropriate to the construction of knowledge maps in the multi-temporal, multi-level structures, multidisciplinary domains, the fundamental earth science issues of original breakthroughs in the global high-precision digital years, geo-intellectual analysis and mapping, lays the scientific foundation for the construction of computer-enabled, decompositionable, and presentable global deep-area knowledge maps, and leads to the development of a new paradigm of earth science research in a coordinated “data-knowledge-model”。
Core scientific issues
A revolutionary leap from a knowledge system of disciplines to a mapping of knowledge is a study of earth's scientific knowledge, which includes both a series of original scientific research and systematic knowledge-mapping. The project focuses on the key theory and methodology created by the multi-modular geoscience mapping that integrates the temporal and spatial dimensions, and includes three aspects:
1) what are the patterns expressed in the map of earth's scientific knowledge that integrates space and time dimensions? How can the intrinsic logical linkages and structured expression of multidisciplinary knowledge of earth science at a unified spatial and temporal dimension be achieved
2) what is the dynamic knowledge map of the integration of statistical and geo-scientific forms? How can the integration, integration and linking of earth scientific knowledge, with the knowledge of big data mining, at the core of the knowledge of experts in earth sciences be achieved
3) how to excavate sequence characteristics of the evolution of the earth's knowledge spectrum at depth? Are there synergetic features of global scientific knowledge
Iii. Main funding directions and research content
Starting with deep-deep geo-science research driven by big earth data and large knowledge, the focus is on the deep cross-fertilization of earth science with disciplines such as information science and mathematics, the creation of key theoretical approaches to the mapping of global earth scientific knowledge and the conduct of validation tests. The studies were conducted in six main directions:
1) geoscientific expression models and geoscientific expression frameworks and generic models of integration time, spatial characteristics and complex knowledge structures, as well as methods of integrating multi-source isomeric knowledge such as authoritative knowledge in the field, literature extraction of knowledge, world knowledge, and research and development of community geoscientists working with knowledge to acquire critical technologies and geoscientific platforms。
2) global high-precision digital depth time-axis: study of geo-time-axis patterns of synergetic physical, chemical, biomarker layers of symmetrical contrasts with precisely defined deep-time geological records of spatial and temporal knowledge spectra, knowledge-driven global bathymetric large-scale geometric geometrically large-scale mapping method to construct a global, unified, high-precision digital geological time-axis。

3) sediment knowledge mapping and its evolution: study of sediment knowledge expression patterns that combine “time-space-matter” characteristics, development of multidisciplinary and integrated sediment evolution knowledge mapping, such as sedimentology, geoscientific, sediment geochemistry, analysis of calculations of the evolution of mid-generation ocean sediments based on large iodp data, patterns of spatial evolution and control factors during excavation of new generation ocean sediments。
4) knowledge mapping of mineral resources and intelligent predictions: study of a system of associated knowledge mapping “earth system - mineralization system - surveying system - predictive evaluation system”, development of geosystem-resource prediction precision artificial intelligence methods based on in-depth learning, knowledge mapping and reasoning engines, and development of an automated modelling and data analysis processing engine for large geological mineral data in a complex system of digital expression, quantification linkages, numerical simulation and prediction。
5) geometric and intelligent mapping of oil- and gas-containing basins: study of the theory of standardization of geographies of geographies of geographies of geographies of geographies of geographies of geography of geographies of geographies of geography of geography of geography of geography of geography of geography of geography of geography of geography of geography of geography of geography of geology of geography of geology of geography of geography of geology of geology of geography of geography of geography and geography of geography of geography of geography of geography of geology of geology of geology of geography of geography of geography of geography of geography of geography of geology of geology of geography of geology of geology of geology of geology of geography of geography of geography of geography of geography of geology and geology of geology of geology of geology of geology of。
6) dynamic knowledge mapping for geo-scientific mega-data: study of geo-scientific spatial and temporal dynamics, multi-perspective knowledge interaction and presentation, precise learning of theories and methods such as discovery and reasoning, and development of an integrated “graph-text-digit” knowledge engine and geo-scientific dynamic knowledge discovery platform。
