Buying electric cars in 2026 and choosing batteries without being bypassed by "renewal, safety, price"! Sodium batteries are officially produced this year, and new safety regulations for batteries have been laid down. Lead acid, sodium and lithium power each have advantages. Dismantling them is done in plain white。
Lead-acid batteries: limited budget, short-distance steps
Lead-acid batteries are old brands, either graphite conversions this year, or they're being phased out, and the core is “cheap, good”:
- advantages: the lowest price, with only $800-1200 for 72v32ah, compatibility of old vehicle chargers, and repair of any shop if broken
- shortfalls: heavy! A single battery will have to be carried by two people; short life span will have to be replaced by 2. 5-3 years; winter will not resist freezing and 15°c will be reduced by half
For whom is it appropriate: persons who have a budget of 10,000 to buy an in-house electric car, an old-age low-speed car, and people who ride no more than 20 kilometres a day to buy food and pick up their children in the city。
Reminder: after july 2026, poor lead-acid batteries in small plants were blocked for sale, and brand recognition took three years。
Ii. Sodium batteries: 2026 new black horses, closed eyes for northern users charge
This year, sodium batteries have finally been produced at similar prices to lead acid, but they are far more powerful and can be called the "king of prices":
- advantages: cooling down! -40°c can be activated normally, 20°c can be maintained at more than 90%, and the north can no longer be afraid of half-way powerlessness in winter; high safety coefficients, short-circuits, needles and needles cannot be burned; six to eight years can be spent with little change
- shortcomings: medium duration, 90-110 km for 72v32ah, which is insufficient for long distances; only medium- and low-end electric vehicles are currently on board
- who is suitable: users in the north (in cold winter areas); people who have a budget of between 1 and 15,000 buyers of electric cars; people who ride no more than 30 kilometres per day, trying to save their minds and not change batteries frequently。
Iii. Lithium batteries: two. Long and high frequency use
Lithium batteries are the dominant medium-high-end electric vehicles, divided into lithium porphate and lithium trigrams, as chosen:
1. Lithium phosphate batteries: the highest total price for household use
- advantages: safety and durability. High temperatures, collisions are not easy; 8-10 years of life are equal to that of electric vehicles; 72v32ah runs 100-120 km and is suitable for the north and south
Shortcomings: prices are more expensive than lead acid, sodium electricity, $1,500-2000 for 72v32ah and 25% less than 20°c, but much more than lead acid
- who is fit: most domestic users; 20-50 kilometres per day riding; and those who seek “safe durability, long-term savings”。
Lithium triple batteries: long distance, north high frequency (hf) header select
- advantages: continuation of roofs! 72v32ah runs 150-200 km, the longest of all three; cooler temperatures are stronger and -40°c stabilizes; support 30 minutes is fast enough to replenish
- shortcomings: the most expensive price is 2000-2500 for 72v32ah; the safety factor is slightly lower than lithium phosphate and sodium electricity, and the brand of bms systems must be selected
- who is appropriate: users in the north; long-distance parties that ride more than 50 kilometres per day; takeaways, couriers; people with high requirements for the continuation and recharge speed。
Iv. Three keys: don't be fooled by businessmen
Not to buy “simplified graphite batteries”: whether they are essentially or lead-acid batteries, but with a different name, life and normal lead-acid is no different from the cost
Recognition of new safety regulations: after july 2026, the new electric vehicle must meet the gb 38031-2025 security standards and be purchased on the basis of a pass, and not on the basis of a billboard
3. Selection by riding distance: 20 km of lead acid/sodium electricity, 20-50 km of lithium phosphate, 50 km of lithium tri won, and the blind pursuit of long voyages for extra money。
V. Reference to replacement costs: have a figure in mind
- lead-acid batteries: two to three years at $800-1200 each
- sodium batteries: a change of 1,000-1,500 yuan each for 6-8 years
- lithium batteries: 1500-2500 each for a period of 8-10 years
The long-term use of lithium and sodium batteries is less expensive and lead-acid batteries have to be replaced frequently and always cost less。
Choosing batteries is not the best, only best for yourself. Picking out on the basis of their own budgets, distance from their daily rides and the area in which they are located will make it possible to avoid pits and save money and comfort。
