In order to further deepen the judicial openness, strengthen awareness-raising campaigns on the rule of law for young people and lead them to raise awareness of the rule of law and to avoid criminal offences, on 30 march, the people's court of the cebu county organized an elaborate public open day, inviting 27 secondary school students and 2 teachers to the first lower secondary school (new school district) in the cebu district to enter the court, bringing to the young people a full and meaningful curriculum of law education through field visits, hearings, on-site legal literacy and mock courts。
At 9. 30 a. M., under the orderly guidance of the staff, the teachers and students first passed through the security corridor, where the staff elaborated on the core requirements and the important role of the security process, giving students a deep sense of security as the first line of defence for the maintenance of court order and the safe and orderly conduct of judicial activities, and a real sense of judicial rigour. Subsequently, teachers and students then visited the court service centre, the executive board and the first floor of the hall electronic screen, and the court's police officers, taking into account the cognitive characteristics of juveniles, provided detailed information in accessible and lively language on the full process of court proceedings, various types of pro-people litigation services and the core functions of implementation, making the work of the court, which was originally abstract, visible and helping students to form an initial framework of awareness of the judiciary。
At the end of the tour, the students entered the trial court in a dignified spirit and attended the entire proceedings in a case of theft. In the course of the proceedings, the court conducted a thorough investigation of the facts of the case, the chain of evidence and the circumstances of the sentence, in strict accordance with the procedure established by law, the accused voluntarily pleaded guilty at the trial, and the whole court was conducted in a serious manner, in accordance with procedural norms and in an orderly manner. Students have gathered together throughout their time to listen carefully, to feel the authority of the law and the impartiality of the judiciary in close proximity, to observe the full course of court proceedings and to appreciate the normative and protective role of the law in the social order。
At the end of the trial, the presiding judge, mahoneg, built on the case and conducted a highly targeted on-site legal literacy lecture. By way of legal interpretation, the judge, taking into account the physical and mental development of the juvenile, focused on the constituent elements of the crime of theft, the legal consequences of the crime, while extending the legal knowledge of the age of criminal responsibility, the prevention of bullying in schools, everyday behaviour norms, etc., that is relevant to the life of the juvenile, using real cases to ring the alarm of the rule of law. Judge mahoneg has been very focused on teaching his students the right world view, life vision and values, bearing in mind that “do not act with evil and smallness”, from the very beginning, and with a sense of respect for the laws and regulations and school discipline, to move away from criminal offences and to fight for a new era of respect for the law。
At the end of the event, the moot session, which was most expected by students, was officially launched. The students changed to their legal robes, sitting in the courtrooms, the public prosecutor's chambers, the defence chambers, and other judicial roles, such as presiding judges, judges, clerks, prosecutors and defenders. From court investigations, court debates and closing statements, students at every stage take the trial process seriously, with their hearts and minds heard, and feel the sanctity and responsibility of the legal profession, further deepening the fear of the administration of justice and placing the rule of law in the minds of young people。
The open public day event, which broke the distance between the courts and young people, brought together rule of law education and judicial practice in depth, and innovatively introduced the "field visit + trial attendance + on-site legalization + mock court" model, allowed young people to understand the spirit of the rule of law, raise legal awareness, promote the rule of law, and achieve good social and educational outcomes。
