From the point of view of logistics cost accounting, zhouzhou built this market, first and foremost addressing a very specific pain point on the western wing of the long east and long triangle: the loss and cost of circulation of the fruits that were pushed up twice。
Before the fall of the fruit market in kanzhou, the circulation of fruit products in the region was highly dependent on a “second-round” pattern of trans-shipment from large markets around nanjing, fertilizer and others. The consequences are directly reflected in the rate of depletion, which is as high as 15 to 20 per cent for fruit storage under the traditional circulation chain. This means that every 100 tons of fruit that arrives, almost 20 tons rot on the road before reaching consumers。
The market has broken the trap by two means: a $1. 5 billion investment to build a 1006,000 cubic metre condensed cold-storage cluster, cutting down one layer of the intermediate distribution chain directly through intensive procurement and intensive circulation; and a 300-kilometre economic radiation ring, which fully covers the core city of zhuang, with a time window from the point of origin to the terminal。
The market side is expected to keep the combined fists below 5 per cent. The difference in this figure is that zhuzhou dares to invest in the core economic bill — who can make fruit rot on the road and who can cut the largest piece of cake in regional trade。
From the point of view of urban strategic positioning, the ambition of zhuzhou is far more than a wholesale market, and it is integrated into the next round of long-triangular industrial upgrading。
For a long time, the lack of a large specialized distribution hub for fruit products in the eastern part of the country is not only a sign of circulation, but also of the “lack of space” in the division of labour in the long triangle. In 2025, the value added of the zhouzhou manufacturing sector was nearly $150 billion, stabilizing its share of GDP at 35 per cent, and the economy had been able to do so, but a new growth pole was needed that would activate the services sector, commercial and trade logistics。
The fruit market has emerged — trading is expected to exceed 20 billion yuan per year after full operation, directly providing more than 5,000 jobs and indirectly boosting employment for nearly 20,000 people around it。
More crucial is the precision of the policy window period: the anhui is leading the process of “triangular one” by deepening the development of long-triangular integration, and zhouzhou, which is home to the confluence of the two metropolitan circles of co-fertilizers and nanjing, is actively integrating into the building of a national integrated market, with the fruit market becoming a key feeder for regional agricultural flows, while also promoting the transition from a purely manufacturing base to a multi-driven economy driven by “manufacturing + business + logistics”。
Looking at the logic of competition in long-term triangular fruit trading patterns, the investment also has the advantage of playing the wrong game。
The long triangle already has two giants: the kachin fruit market, with a turnover of over $67 billion in 2025, is the country's largest wholesale market for specialized fruits, with a focus on national aggregates and international imports; core urban markets, such as shanghai and hangzhou, favour high-end imports of fruit and refined consumption. If wuzhou is tough, it won't work。
But it chooses another path: an immediate consumption service located in the long triangle of western circles, with a supply chain model of “deep local tillage + national collection + global preferences”, which takes into account local time fruit, such as southern strawberries, pepperbreacon nuts, and imported precisions, such as pickles, and so forth, and fills the gap at the regional mass consumption level。
In terms of the assessment that industrial scholars should build forces, this constitutes a synergetic pattern of “resource sharing, functional complementarities, information-sharing” rather than zero-sum competition。
In terms of integration, the logic of this investment is a precise three-tiered nest: the bottom is cold but clear cost formulas -- compressed losses are profit-making; the middle is the city's ability to leap. – by taking advantage of the policy of triangular integration to turn a market into a backbone of industrial transformation; the top layer is the intellectual wisdom of survival of the wrong competition – not to compete with giants, but to build barriers in a vacuum that they do not cover。
These three layers of logic are indispensable and together sustain the ambition of anchoring the trading hub of the long triangle。
