In june 2003, the then general environmental protection authority issued a circular on environmental protection verification of companies applying for listing and those applying for refinancing, setting out the content and requirements of such verification for enterprises applying for listing in highly polluting industries。
Subsequently, the environmental protection sector made several improvements and adjustments to the system. In 2007, the former general environmental protection authority, together with the csrc, conducted an environmental review of listed companies, banned companies with environmentally undesirable behaviour from entering the capital market and, in august of that year, issued a circular on further regulation of the work of companies operating in highly polluting industries applying for listing or refinancing environmental protection. In february 2011, the ministry of the environment issued a circular on further regulation and regulation of strict environmental verification of listed companies。
It is worth noting that in october 2012, the ministry of the environment issued a circular on further optimization of the listed environmental verification system, which calls for streamlining the listed environmental verification content and the time frame for verification。
The trend towards simplification is evident in the adjustment of the publicly available environmental verification system。
