Industry prospects
According to statistics for january-november 2006, the total value of our foreign trade exports and imports amounted to $153,560 million, an increase of 24. 3 per cent over the same period last year, and will continue to grow at double-digit rates over the next few years. The country's total international trade is ranked third globally, and china's foreign trade is going through yet another period of rapid development。
As a result of china's 2008 olympic games and the 2010 world expo, even at the current pace of development, the number of enterprises with export and import rights for foreign trade will reach 360,000 within five years, twice as many as the current number of enterprises for foreign trade. In accordance with article 9 (iv) of the customs regulations of the people's republic of china, no. 127 of the general customs administration of the people's republic of china, on the registration and registration of declared customs units, the number of customs officers within the declared enterprises should not be less than five, which would require 1. 8 million. At present, more than 80,000 people are registered for customs clearance, and according to the employment guidance centre of the ministry of national education, each year about 130,000 graduates of the economic class of higher education are enrolled in foreign trade. Even if 130,000 people are fully engaged in foreign trade, only 650,000 foreign trade personnel will be trained in five years, far from the more than 1 million that the country currently needs。
At present, of all the enterprises involved in foreign trade, the specialized customs offices and the correspondent customs offices, only 80,000 are professional customs officers! There is a significant imbalance in the number of available talent compared to the needs of the foreign trade sector, with significant gaps, and the quality of the personnel to meet the needs of the fast-growing foreign trade sector. The lack of professional clearance is a bottleneck in the development of our international trade! Today, customs officials have become one of the most popular industries in china。
