Chapter i members

Article 3 members of the party must fulfil the following obligations:
(i) carefully study marxist leninism, mao zedong thought, deng xiaoping theory, “three representatives” of important ideas, scientific development, xi jinping's new era of chinese socialism, learning the party's routes, guidelines, policies and resolutions, learning the party's basic knowledge and party history, learning scientific, cultural, legal and operational knowledge, and working to improve its ability to serve the people。
(ii) to strengthen “four consciousness”, “four self-confidence” and “two defence”, to implement the basic lines and policies of the party, to take the lead in the reform of the open and socialist modernization and to lead the masses in their struggle for economic development and social progress, and to take a leading role in production, work, learning and social life。
(iii) adhering to the primacy of the interests of the party and the people and to the subordination of the individual interests to the interests of the party and the people, to the suffering of the former, to the enjoyment of the latter, to the exercise of his duty and to the contribution of others。
(iv) self-fulfilling party discipline, beginning with party political discipline and discipline, exemplary compliance with the laws and regulations of the state, strict respect for the confidentiality of the party and the state, implementation of party decisions, submission to organizational distribution and active fulfilment of party mandates。
(v) to preserve the unity and unity of the party, to remain loyal to it and to act in good faith, and to firmly oppose the activities of all factional organizations and sub-groups, as well as the obscenity of both parties and all conspiracies。
(vi) effectively engage in criticism and self-criticism, with the will to expose and correct shortcomings, errors in words and deeds that violate the principles of the party and to resolutely combat negative corruption。
(vii) to liaise closely with the public, to publicize the views of the party to the public, to consult with the public and to present their views and demands to the party in a timely manner and to defend their legitimate interests。
(viii) promote a new culture of socialism, lead the way in the application of the core values of socialism and socialist pride, promote communism, promote the traditional virtues of the chinese nation, stand up for the protection of the interests of the nation and its people, stand up at all difficult and dangerous times, and fight heroically without fear of sacrifice。

Article 6 members of the party reserve are required to take an oath of membership vis-à-vis the party flag. The oath is as follows: i volunteer to join the communist party of china, embrace the party's programme, abide by the party's statutes, fulfil party membership obligations, implement party decisions, strictly observe party discipline, preserve party secrets, remain loyal to the party, work actively, fight for communism for the rest of my life, stand ready to sacrifice everything for the party and the people, and never betray the party。
