Launched by the country's famous sofa brand and co-sponsored by the people's daily newspaper china economic weekly and the china institute of economic research, the event “choose of china's ten happiness enterprises” was officially launched at the beijing international hotel on 20 march 2015. During the same period, the launch of the international happiness day's “one hour early off work” public service ceremony was held to warn of the crisis of happiness in the workplace and to call for accelerated chinese-style happy enterprise construction。
By chance, the recent “google cfo pichet resign” event, while shaking wall street as a whole, was the best annotated of the news — on the grounds of “more time to accompany family”。
However, as one of google’s top five executives, pichett, a key member of the management team, has, of course, passed the stage of survival for clothing and food, and for the general public, who do not yet have a strong economic base, jobs are still necessary, and resignations can only be “rich and willful” for a few. Also, in the workplace, employees are absolutely weak compared to enterprises. Thus, as pichet put it, “effort to find a balance between work and personal life”. But the burden should be left to the business — not only that, but also that it should bear more。
So, how to build a happy business is what it should be — and that is why the “ten happy enterprises of china” list is being published。
Most of the top 10 happy businesses are industry leaders
In order to complete this list, the network of excellence, together with the chinese economic weekly and the chinese institute of economic studies, launched a mass survey on the well-being of working people. The survey found that industry leaders and monopolies were generally favoured, with the top 10 enterprises, including ali baba, apple, national electricity, 100 degrees, chinese construction, the china chamber of commerce and industry, the china food group, petrochemicals and telecommunications。
This is reflected in the survey of sources of happiness, where economic performance becomes the primary element — in other words, the sense of pressure and insecurity generated by the lack of money deprives ordinary workers of the pleasure they deserve。
Indeed, economic growth should be the foundation of a happy enterprise, which by its very nature is a business organization whose survival must be in keeping with the logic of capital, whose value to shareholders, employees, consumers and society is very limited and its ability to create happiness is impossible if it is not firmly anchored in the economic base。
Without money, we can't, but if we have money, we can do it. The duration of service of enterprise staff is becoming shorter and separation rates are becoming higher. According to relevant data, the staff separation rate has increased from an average of 6 to 8 per cent to 14 to 20 per cent. The low employee well-being index is the main cause of the brain drain in enterprises and the high rate of staff mobility. In this study, we also see that 47% of the respondents lack a sense of happiness – and chinese companies are facing an unprecedented crisis of happiness。
"china's ten happiness business list"
It's not that simple to be happy an hour early
What's the problem?
Is it possible to take an “one hour off work early” from the boss? Of course, this only opens the “one corner of the iceberg” of conflict between the workplace and life。
But we can therefore think deeper: business and the family, like the family, are the basic units of society, and the relationship between the owner and the employee is more at stake in social harmony. Thus, the concern for “happiness” is not just for the interests of a few business owners, but rather for the realization of the “dream” of all employees。
It is precisely that the winner of the china award for the outstanding contribution of the cultural happiness of china's business, and the president of the sofa, huang huakun, are outraged at the award: “being a happy business, the welfare of employees must be sufficient, which is very costly for business owners. After a fierce intellectual struggle, it was important to be a happy business to have the courage to influence the private sector. If i am the only one who is happy and no one else is happy, then my happiness will not be better, and that is the true happiness. The most important question for building happy businesses is to show our employees where our future is, where it is, and through our efforts to ensure that our future is happy and well.”
(president huang huakun of the left and right sofa was awarded the award for outstanding contribution to the cultural happiness of chinese enterprises)
Derek herzberg, the father of the modern incentive theory, believes that the source of motivation and satisfaction for staff is from challenges, achievements, recognition. Recognition is a positive concern for staff behaviour, effort or performance, and it sends a message to staff that their efforts and achievements can be seen by management and be rewarded accordingly, and that all they have to do is do their best to use their potential and constantly challenge themselves — which will directly bring happiness — this may be the kind of happy business code that the couch has been baptizing for 30 years。
But the exploration of the construction of happy businesses will continue。
Thus, the launch of this “ten happy enterprises in china” list is only a small step, and the next “a big step” can be assumed to be a major shift from the concept of utilitarian development to that of comprehensive development, which also implies the end of an old enterprise era and the advent of a new one。
