In the rich shenzhen, when we used to look up to the skyline, we tended to ignore the forgotten “sixth floor” — the roof. In recent days, through a “green revolution” on the roof, the streets of fukuda merlin have given a surprising answer: roofs can not only stop helicopters or pile groceries, but also grow eggplants, peppers, and children’s fear of nature。
In response to the call for ecological construction of green merrillin, a business card on merlin street “directly greening first street” was polished. More recently, merlin street, using parent-child natural education as an entry point, launched its first “sky farm” agricultural generalization project, which plans to build a “sky farm” in each of the 13 communities in the district. On the morning of 11 january, the first generation of pro bono activities in the streets of merlin, on the roof of a building on both sides of the community, began a separate eco-practice course for 25 younger families。

At the site of the event, the previously idle roof space was rejuvenated: in 200 square metres of cultivation, 25 families, under the supervision of a professional agroegro, with small, child-friendly shovels and mini-water canteens, had carefully planted seedlings such as pepper, eggplant and cabbage into the soil. With their childish little hands, the children smoothed the earth, poured the spring, and focused their eyes on the curiosity of life. One parent said: “absolutely, children rarely have access to agricultural land, an activity that allows them to learn about the process of plant growth and gives our children more time to work together.” the pleasure of working in the nearness of nature is also the seed of a green life in the hearts of children。

In order to stimulate children to participate actively in planting activities and to foster a learning interest in agricultural knowledge, the event featured the award of the “small farmers” medal, which was awarded to every child who had completed the planting mission with a commemorative medal, and a number of children proudly raised the medal with their own “small farms”. “this immersion education is more vivid than textbook knowledge, and every day a child comes home and asks, “does my eggplant grow?” the event was attended by mr. Wang. The staff stated that the medal was not only an acknowledgement of the children's work today, but also an inspiration and expectation for the future of the children — encouraging them to follow up on their crops in their “small farms” and observe the process of plant growth。
According to the head of the sky farm project, this is a community-sharing space for general studies, parent-child interaction and the integration of farming practices. Merlin street was built in 13 communities in the bailiwick, using unoccupied areas on the roof, with a greener roof of 5543 square metres, which not only helped to improve the microclimate of the streets, changed the past top floors of the building with black, dirty and chaotic features, glorified the community environment and improved quality of life, but also provided a natural classroom for residents to experience planting and learn about ecology. In the future, merlin street will also continue its series of “sky farms” growth observations, organic harvesting, harvest sharing, etc., in communities, encouraging residents of the bailiwick to participate actively in the greening of the stereo, the building of a green-american environment, the normalization and life of community science education, and more families to feel the value of labour and build a green home together. This “green revolution”, which took place on the roof of the city, not only provides citizens with a natural classroom accessible to them, but also provides an innovative sample of the sustainable development of mega-cities by drawing out a good-life picture of the “rolling window to green and out of the park”。

The sky farm agricultural science experience project is known to be one of the research initiatives of merlin street in building “direct greening first street”. In follow-up, merlin street will focus on building a system of city-based green standards, creating the country's first city-wide greening full chain standardized solutions, forming a whole-process “self-help menu” of “a handbook, sets of programmes, n-type equipment” and creating a “one-size-fits-all” platform through the “green savings” eco-cum-ecosystems, a three-dimensional greening scheme, a coalition of “sky partners”, a “one-size-fits-all designers” model, high-standard nasio roofs and ground-to-face greening over 100,000 square metres, building two stereo-greening demonstration areas, building a “vertical forest” intelligent ecological system and building the country's first urban “green valley”。
