Typhoon “pyrotechnics” has brought a clear storm to my city. In order to reduce the impact of typhoons, heavy rains and tidal surges on urban water supply, the ningbo city water environment group launched a wind-proof contingency plan on 22 july to improve water quality testing and ensure that the population has access to water security。
As can be seen from the group's water distribution centre, real-time changes in the water supply to the main urban area are visible on the screen for the five water plants, namely, the east chan lake water plant, the maoseng water plant, the peach water plant, the jiangdong water plant and the north allen water plant. The staff of the movement control centre are closely following the evolution of the water level and quality of the original water and, in response to the possible fluctuations in the quality of the original water caused by typhoons, water plant inspectors are also busy with sampling upstream water intakes, increasing the quality of the original water and adapting the production process in a timely manner。
“in general, typhoons do have a significant impact on the production of water plants. This impact can be seen in two main ways: on the one hand, heavy rains, resulting in changes in the quality of raw water, making water treatment more difficult; and, on the other hand, disruptions in the supply of electricity by storm typhoons, which may cause the water-making equipment to be disrupted.” according to the head of production and operation of the water supply sector of the municipal water environment group, the east chan lake water plant, the maoawon water plant and the newly produced peach source water plant are all high-level water plants with less access to water and production will not be affected too much; the jiangdong water plant and the north harun water plant are plain water plants, which have been upgraded long before the thong period. “in addition to water quality monitoring, the water supply sector has prepared sufficient emergency supplies such as water purification agents, while the newly introduced impregnated ultrafiltration process can also respond to sudden changes in water quality and ensure that the plant has a better water quality than the national standard.”
In response to the possible impact of storm weather on urban water supply, on the eve of the typhoon, the group's water sector has strengthened urban priority water supply facilities, pump house equipment, carried out a comprehensive inspection of drainage ditches and high-level water-supply coverage and ensured that emergency supplies are adequate. The water quality of the five major water plants is safe and controlled according to the current water quality indicators。
In response to possible contingencies during the typhoon, the group's five major water plants, six water utilities and a second water supply sub-company have been engaged in counter-balancing combats, with all employees on a 24-hour rotational basis, guarding water supply facilities such as water plants, pumping stations and main pipes, valves, co-implementing 80 recovery engineering vehicles, 8 power-generation vehicles, 1 water quality survey vehicle and 6 water tankers, with all efforts to ensure a steady and orderly supply level in the city of ninbo during the typhoon。
