It's time to get rid of the frenzy of college

The secretary-general of xi stressed that the direction of higher education in our country is closely linked to the real objectives and future directions of our development, serving the people, the chinese communist party in the governance of the country, the consolidation and development of the socialist system of chinese identity, and the construction of the reform of openness and the modernization of socialism. Doing these four “services” requires higher education institutions to assume such functions as teaching and teaching, academic research and social services, and to become a nation's intellectual home and social conscience. However, in recent years, the temperaments in some societies have also been brought to higher education, resulting in a number of undesirable phenomena, including academic misconduct, a decline in the quality of education, excessive pursuit of official positions and titles. There are many examples of this, such as “a post of head of department in which more than 40 professors compete”, “the national prize for science and technology in a province has been awarded to officials at all levels of higher education”, “the director of the professor by copying the paper, who has been rated as an excellent educators”, “the doctor of the school superstar who does not know what he is”。
They all stem from “hearts”: learning is not lonely, nature is reluctant to stay in the fields for long periods of time to investigate, to experiment in laboratories; teachers are motivated by a sense of fame and natural desire to develop projects and part-time jobs; and being judges is self-interested, leaving one eye open for the benefit of the individual, and learning results that are untested. They all stem from “wide” management: the belief that the students of the performances are stars and that the papers are almost nothing; the belief that the professors are in the middle of the world and that there is no need to look at the copy of the papers from that year; and the belief that the project needs leadership support, and that it is better to focus on academia than on business relationships。
An analysis of these impatiences, self-interest, narrow utilitarianism, secular pragmatism, and the fact that a significant proportion of our higher education institutions, whether run by managers, teachers or student groups, have failed to follow up on the instructions of the general secretary for higher education. The chaos in higher education is in urgent need of governance, with a commitment to genuine piety and strict management。
To this end, it is recommended that:
1. To strengthen the building of the teaching profession and to respect the dignity of the teaching profession. Ideology and politics are taught throughout the educational process, not only to students but also to teachers. The preachers themselves must first understand and believe, and the teachers of higher education must themselves first develop the right vision of life, values and world views to guide their students correctly. Recognizing that teachers are engineers of the human soul, it is only by building a sense of sanctity and purpose in this profession that academic innovation and knowledge creation can be made a natural function of their own, and that they are willing to devote their lives to pursuit and exploration. Respect for knowledge needs to be fully reflected in higher education, where the most knowledgeable professors and scholars use their collective wisdom to lead the construction of schools and future development. It is important to establish a monument for professors and scholars who have achieved great success in various fields of study, and to make them role models and models of action。
Ii. Continuous improvement of mechanisms for the rule of law. In the face of academic corruption, academic integrity and accountability systems should be put in place at the expense of a lifetime of remorse for academic corruption, forcing academic self-regulation with unattainable “high-pressure lines”. In the face of inadequate monitoring, it is recommended to explore professional third-party control systems for the segregation of custody and to avoid self-piracy, insecurity and institutional failure. In the face of the education bubble, a system of certification of the quality of education should be put in place to ensure that higher education is exported and that students are truly trained as qualified professionals. In the face of legitimate demands for a better life, an appropriate system of social services should be put in place in order for the intellectual resources of higher education institutions to benefit society through legal and effective means, such as integration in productive studies, mobile workshops, etc., to raise the level of economic income of higher education teachers。
General secretary xi noted that the level of development of higher education is an important indicator of a country's level of development and potential for development. Our need for higher education is more urgent than ever, and our desire for scientific knowledge and excellence is stronger than ever. The secretary-general's statement is a guide and a reminder that every one of us in higher education should feel at ease. It is important to eliminate the impatience, to conduct in-depth investigations, thorough research and scientific responses, to continuously improve the institutional mechanisms for higher education, to eradicate all kinds of disruptions in the development of higher education, to select more highly qualified teachers who are committed to the cause of education, who have a high moral character and who are able to carry out research, and to train more young students who can carry out their responsibilities and historic mission。
