Jiangsu suntai farm is a demonstration base for saline-resistant rice resource screening, breeding and new varieties in the centre of the national centre for salin resilient rice technology innovation. The two species surveyed were new varieties of high-quality, salt-resistant rice with an area of more than 40 acres, suitable for freshwater irrigation in saline soils of less than 0. 5 per cent of the soil along the yellow rice plague in jiangsu and shandong provinces。

Of these, “salpha 1” was selected by the academy of agricultural sciences of jiangsu province, approved by the state in 2021, included by the ministry of agriculture and rural affairs in 2022 in the main food oil production varieties, was authorized to plant new varieties in 2023, seeded on 15 may this year, planted on 8 june, smoked on 25 august, and “salpha 21” was selected by the institute of agricultural sciences of jiangsu zone, approved by the state in 2021, applied for new plant varieties rights in 2022, with the same seeding and planting time as the former, and pecked on 28 august。

It was described as a rapid and efficient de-salinization of the soil of the salinous coastal areas through “ploughing, bubbles, dredges, twirling, flat” 5n, with rapid and efficient de-salinization through multi-cycle cycles and multiple water-spring cultivation, the core and key technical importance of which is repeated water-silviculture, accompanied by the implementation of technological systems such as “deep pine, irrigated, multi-swirling, good seed, deep-planted and fat”. Rice cultivation was followed by technological innovations that led to rapid, productive and improved use of economic, simple and efficient saltlands。

According to paronyang, it is very strategic, according to preliminary estimates, to estimate that about 100 million acres of our country have salinized land with the potential to grow rice, and if, in the future, all salinized rice is planted on those salinized land, our annual rice production in salinized land is equivalent to one year of food production in provinces such as hunan. The center for the future will be working on the development of better varieties and improved techniques for saline land improvement, and will put in place a genuine “gear-to-earth” approach to helping saline rice to contribute more to national food security。
