On 2 september, the 2023 china international trade in services conference opened at beijing. The theme of the current session was “open lead for development, cooperation for the future” and was intended to provide a broader platform for cooperation in international trade in services. The third year of intensive participation of the beijing intellectual property court in the conference will provide a full range of intellectual property judicial safeguards for the successful organization of the conference through specialized and international judicial services。

On the first day of the exhibition, the beijing intellectual property court co-sponsored the “foreign property dispute resolution and quality development forum” with the china office of wipo, the beijing city intellectual property authority and the beijing city copyright authority。
In its message, liu zaiyu, secretary-general and president of the beijing intellectual property court, stated that the beijing intellectual property court, on the basis of its mandate, actively promotes the development of governance through judicial experience, strengthens the enabling role of judicial leadership, develops judicial advice and improves the rules around emerging areas and key industries; strengthens proactive service as a mechanism for regularizing the “legal protection of innovation” circuit; promotes the substantive functioning of the “one stop” and the construction of the main platform of the beijing international centre for science, technology and innovation, the “three towns one”, to contribute to the high-quality development of the capital; strengthens international vision and global thinking and exchanges of ideas with international organizations to promote high-level external openness。
The director of the commission on copyright and president of the court of cassation, feng jing, also delivered a keynote address at the forum entitled " the path of legal protection of artificial intelligence generation content " , explaining the importance of protecting artificial intelligence production content in contributing to the development of industrial innovation, indicating the best way of protection under the copyright law system and giving a well-known opinion on emerging legal issues of concern。

Responsive demand extension of judicial functions
At the current conference, the beijing intellectual property court had taken full advantage of the professional courts, using the “two-stop” model, focusing on the five hotspot industries and focusing on four judicial services. Judicial services workstations have been set up in the national convention centre and the first steel park, with teams of excellent judges deployed throughout the process. Special focus on digital trade, development of chinese medicine, artificial intelligence, computer software, telecommunications services and the five hotspot industries around the theme of the conference will be targeted at strengthening service security in the priority areas in terms of legal content design and the professional background of members of the judges ' team. Four judicial services have been actively carried out: legal literacy, interpretation, questioning, and inspection. The judges ' team has conducted intensive legal awareness campaigns in the exhibition areas, conducted interpretation campaigns in conjunction with typical case materials, conducted on-site legal responses to exhibitors ' legal advice, and visited intellectual property compliance in the premises。

Internationalization was a major highlight of the conference, with over 70 countries and international organizations holding exhibitions. In order to give full visibility to the internationalization of chinese justice, the beijing intellectual property court appointed a team of “three best” judges with technical skills, legal expertise and international experience, to proactively publicize the judicial protection of intellectual property rights of foreign and foreign nationals, and to make a judicial voice for the equal protection of the legitimate rights and interests of domestic and foreign subjects。
Focusing on the continuing expansion of trade imports and exports and the rapid growth of knowledge-intensive trade in services, professional guidance was given in a timely manner on legal issues of concern to exhibitors, such as the certification of geographical indications, brand defence, the protection of chinese pharmaceutical patents, monopolies in the new business world and the regulation of unfair competition. In addition, the beijing intellectual property court tailored a set of bilingual common law materials, such as the ten cases of data against unfair competition, the ten typical cases of patent authorizations, and the manual on proof of the parties, to provide guidance to foreign subjects in china on the protection of their rights in litigation and to further develop a preferred forum for international intellectual property litigation。
The current session of the conference was the first year of our comprehensive recovery of the trade in international services exchange. The beijing intellectual property court will use the conference as an important window to safeguard the story of china’s innovation, to make a sound of knowledge-based protection for china, to give full prominence to professional and internationalization, and to provide strong judicial safeguards to further optimize the business environment。
