Prior to the exhibition, the provincial intellectual property authority directed local self-inspection of suspected abusive risks to participating enterprises. According to statistics, the municipal (local) intellectual property authorities have carried out an inventory of more than 3,000 products (types) of over 500 enterprises participating in exhibitions under their jurisdiction for suspected infringement of intellectual property rights, providing on-site guidance and handling of irregularities in the use of trademarks and irregularities in the use of the words “geographical indications”。
During the exhibition, the provincial intellectual property authority, in association with the harbin city intellectual property authority, and the provincial intellectual property protection centre, set up on-site intellectual property workstations to receive complaints of patent infringement disputes, provide trademarks, patent applications advice and advocacy assistance. The workstations also invite foreign intellectual property experts and multilingual volunteers to provide legal services to central and foreign exhibitors. Since the opening of the exhibition, the help desk has received nearly 160 consultations and distributed over 200 brochures. On-site guidance from the relevant officials of the department of intellectual property of the province requires that priority be given to the examination of the existence of fraudulent patents, irregularities in patent markings, falsification of trademarks, irregularities in geographical markings, complaints of infringement of rights, and legal advice and rights assistance to medium- and outreach providers。
As a next step, the provincial intellectual property directorate will continue to work on the protection of intellectual property services at fairs, deepen cooperation on the protection of russian intellectual property rights and provide guidance on addressing intellectual property disputes abroad。
