A strawberry, dark and dark, sold at $100 a pound. In recent days, a valuable type of fruit known as “black strawberries” has raised concerns. Why is it so expensive? What is market acceptance?

"we don't have many species this year, but we have over 600." the western strawberry garden in wuhan east lake district, li xie army, gave a press briefing to nine factions, with about 30,000 strawberries in the park, which represent only about 50 per cent of their total cultivation, a mere “test field”, compared with the main strawberry of 6,000 in the park。

It is scarcely expensive, and its production confirms this. According to li, “black strawberries” currently produce only about 5 pounds per week. Once these fruits mature, they are very popular in the pick-up garden. “thirty-five pounds of production, if a customer comes to pick it up, may be taken in a day or two.” he explained that it would take between three and five days and one week to complete the harvest before the next crop would mature。
With regard to the $100 pricing, li xi jun described it as a market strategy based on both variety characteristics。
"it's really a little bit taller than a regular red-coloured cream strawberries, with a unique colour and flavor, and many customers like to taste it." he stated that he had received information that the price of “black strawberries” in places such as zhejiang and xi'an could even reach $150 per pound。

Since production is minimal, the pattern of sales is very concentrated. “mostly on tourists, there is no supply to the fruit shop.” according to li, the vast majority of current buyers are individual customers from wuhan, mostly older customers.” they come to me every year to pick strawberries, and when they see a black one, they buy a couple pounds of fresh."
How does the customer react? The li xi army sees the current slogan as positive: “the sweetness, colour, and glamour that have been planted this year are satisfactory. A lot of people have seen it online, but they haven't actually picked it, they've tried it, and now they're trying to do it.”
For farmers, black strawberry is still a new thing that needs to be “spread the rocks across the river”. Li xian acknowledges that black strawberries are more technically demanding than red strawberries, which have grown over a decade of mature management experience, and they continue to search for their sweetness, fruit and complete management techniques。
“one is low production, and the other is relatively scarce.” li xi's military track has developed a seed mentality. His main purpose in planting “black strawberries” was to draw seed to observe the plant's own performance and to create a differentiated product that met the needs of different levels of clients. There are more than 20 strawberry plantations on his way, and this year there are not many "black strawberries"。
The lixi army is cautiously optimistic about the future. If successful this year, and the market feedback continues to be good, he may consider an appropriate expansion next year. But at the moment, these 600 “black strawberries” are more like a roadblock to the market to explore the potential for fruit consumption。
