The inner mongolia autonomous region remains a low-prevalence area with the fifth lowest reported infection and morbidity in the country. As of 31 october, the autonomous region of inner mongolia had recorded a total of 2,829 cases of hiv-infected persons and patients, of which 747 were patients, 279 were deaths and 2550 were currently active. According to statistics, by october of this year, 92. 0 per cent of the cumulatively detected hiv and aids transmission in the inner mongolia autonomous region was through sexual transmission, including 37. 3 per cent heterosexual transmission, 54. 7 per cent heterosexual transmission, 4. 1 per cent injecting drug use, 2. 1 per cent plasma and blood products transmission, 0. 2 per cent mother-to-child transmission and 1. 6 per cent other unknown transmission. Infectors and patients living in our region are predominantly young people aged 20-49 years, accounting for 86. 2 per cent of the total number of cases。
