On the afternoon of may 27, 2024, students were fully aware of the dangers of smoking, and community workers were specifically invited to the second grade of the pilot school in sunyang district, in the third grade of the primary school, to enter the school, bringing to them an open and educational course on the theme “smoke-free growth and a healthy future”。
In the classroom, teachers use a smoke video to stimulate interest among students. Immediately thereafter, teachers, together with their classmates, learned about tobacco products, the causes of tobacco addiction, the hazards of second-hand smoke, and the diseases associated with smoking, have become acutely aware of the serious harm tobacco causes。
The teacher then helped students to consolidate their knowledge through the interactive sessions of the “health awareness questions and answers” and led them to learn about the signs of a smoking ban in life and called on them to participate actively in the campaign. Finally, the uncle of the community fire station explained to the children how to save themselves in the event of a fire caused by cigarette butts and how to use fire extinguishers。
While 40 minutes of the classroom is over, the knowledge of health and safety of my classmates is deeply embedded in my mind. In addition to being aware of the dangers of tobacco, they have also become more aware of the value of life and health, adding to their sense of social responsibility to play an active role as a “smoking-free messenger” by promoting a ban on smoking among those around them and spreading healthy habits and ideas to more people。
